My DH's middle name is James after his Dad - this baby will be our last and if we have another girl I would some how still like to name her after her daddy and grand father so I was wondering if you think I could get away with using James as one of her middle names but making it look a bit more girly spelling it Jaymz -

she will have 2 middle names like her sister - first middle name will be FOR SURE Jorja after my Dad George. firstname Jorja Jaymz lastname what do you think?

yah or nay???

It was a thought but Im not certain if I would do it or not i just wanted suggestions!

My first thought when I saw it was NO WAY--not as a first name. But after reading your post, I think Jorja Jaymz would be fine for middle names, with the family connection, it would be more meaningful than just looking like you made up the name. What would the first name be?

I think that would be fine. It's great that you are honoring the men in your life.

I'm sorry, I think that Jaymz looks awfully misspelled... I like the idea of honoring the men in your family, however...I would just do it differently... the "-mz" just doesn't look like it would be part of a first or middle name. How about something a little more feminine, yet still a little creative without looking outlandishly so... maybe something like Jaycina? Jamesina?

Best of luck to you!

I would spell it James, especially because it is going in the second middle name spot, which, if I'm not mistaken, doesn't show up on any official documents. Lots of girls have last names as middle names, so I don't think that having the name James as a middle name as odd at all. To be brutally honest, the spelling Jaymz looks really odd and cheapens her name.

I searched the name in thinkbabynames.com and it came up that James could be a boy's or a girl's name.

Alternate spellings or suggestions: Jaymes (more girly?), Jaime, Jamie, Jacqueline (female form of Jacque, the French interpretation of James)

That website said that James ranked 875 out of 4275 as a first name for females of all ages in the 1990 census, so people are naming girls James.

Hope that helps.

I like the idea, but I really dislike the spelling. (I really like Jorja though, it reminds me of Jorja Fox, who I love. I like that spelling better than the traditional Georgia. I think it's cute and spunky.) Anyway, I'm not a fan of the Jaymz spelling. I actually don't think you need to change the spelling at all. It's a second middle name, so it's not like people are going to see it that often and somehow be confused about her gender. And as someone else pointed out, James can be a surname, so it really doesn't seem weird at all. If you really want to change the spelling, I'd go with Jaymes or Jaimes. It's the "z" that bothers me the most. But honestly, I still don't like either of those very much compared to James.

The other option is to use a name that incorporates James - Jameson, Jamie, Jemma/Gemma, etc I really like Jemma/Gemma, personally.

Good luck!

I like the idea of using James, but I don't like this spelling. I think it would be cute to use the original spelling- Jorja James. Or maybe changing it to Jamie or Jaime to make it more feminine if you're not sure about James.

I have to agree with the PP. I don't like the name or the spelling. I appreciate the want to honor the men, but you could do that through giving her a girl's name. DH was supposed to be a girl, they had the name Antoinette Josephine picked out. He ended up Anthony Joseph. It still bothers him that they named him after women. I would go with Jamie or something a little more feminine. JMO!

I would use it as a second middle name for a daughter to honor dad and grand-dad, but I think the spelling James is totally okay rather than changing it to jaymz.

I know a lot of posters said basically the same thing, so I just wanted to jump in to say I agree with them!
