Jordan for a boy?

My husband really likes this name and I like it as well but worry so many girls are named Jordan lately. Also, we both really like Olivia for a girl and wonder how Olivia and Jordan would sound as siblings?

We also like for a boy:
Ethan
Luke
Nicholas
Carter
John

Any thoughts or suggestions would be great.

Well, I knew a darling little boy named Jordan when I taught school...he was so adorable and the kind of boy who is going to be a ladykiller when he grows up! So, I'm biased, but I think it works for a boy as well as it works for a girl. Especially if you like a super feminine name like Olivia for a girl...I would respond differently if you were proposing Addison for a girl and Jordan for a boy (then, yes, it would be confusing). Of your other boys names, I like:

Luke
Nicholas
John

I actually like Luke better than Jordan by quite a bit, but if you guys love Jordan, there is nothing wrong with it.

I don't personally know anyone by that name, girl or boy. I know it's used for girls too but I can definitely see it on a boy.

Of the others I also like Ethan.

If you two really like Jordan I'd go with that name.

I really like Jordan for a boy, it's on my short list at the moment. I also like the fact that it's less popular than the others on your list. Good Luck!

The name Jordan still seems like a boys name to me

I think that Jordan is a good solid name. I personally like it much better for a boy than a girl. From your other list I like Luke too. I had a foster child once that was named Lukan (Lu-kan). It was different.

Jordan has always seemed a bit sissy to me. I like the other names on your list much better and find they sound better with Olivia (which is very pretty BTW). My favourite is Olivia and Ethan, they go well together. Luke and Nicholas also very nice.

I like the others on your list much better than Jordan, it's okay, but it doesn't grab me like Luke or Nicholas.

I know a brother/sister named Jordan and Olivia! I actually babysat for them when I was in high school, and they were 3 and 1.5 at the time -- really great kids! They're now both in high school. I love Jordan for a boy, and I actually hate that it's being used on girls so much. I think it's a wonderful name and very strong. I thought Olivia was an interesting choice at the time, and I can't believe how popular it is now.

As for the other names on your list, I really like them all. My least favorite is probably Carter, but you can't go wrong with any of them.

Good luck!

I know a few Jordans of both genders, but only girls under the age of 6 so to me it sounds like a girls name (nms, but a girls name none the less). I like ALL the other names on your list more than Jordan, but Luke is my favorite.
