What names do you absolutly love but don't have the guts to use because of what others might think or the kid my not like it, etc.

Girls: Ailith, Branna, Lilith, Arwen, Mabry, Saskia

Boys: Diego, Santiago, Dathan, Beren, Stone, Killian

Mostly because they're a little out there, but a couple of them wouldn't "fit" my child.

My all-time favorite girls name: Wallis. I would never use it simply because I can just imagine the school kids making fun of my child. Wallis Simpson was a rather unattractive woman who some English Prince abdicated the throne for... Happy Name Hunting.

I have always loved the name Beau for a boy. I would never use though. I really like the name Robert and could imagine using the NN Bo. Unfortunately DH's mother's brother is Robert and he's estranged from the family (he wouldn't even come to MIL's funeral). Alas, I couldn't use the name Robert.

Excellent question!!

I love the name Bevin for a girl! And India. Don't think I'd ever use them, though.

For a boy I really like the names Zane, Griffin & Galen for boys but don't think I'd ever use them. Especially Galen which means peaceful/tranquil but the "gay" sounding part of Galen would be too much for a boy these days.

FYI, I know a Marigold, and since I grew up with her, I never thought the name was that strange. In college, her friends called her Mary, but in elementary and high school, we always called her Marigold.

I actually almost didn't use Devanie for this very reason (and yes, we have had some interesting reactions already), but I just loved it so much, even before we knew she was a girl. It fits everything we wanted -- Irish heritage, feminine, not too common, sounds great with our Irish last name. We decided we didn't care what everyone else would say, so Devanie Rose it is! :) Incidentally, lots of our older relatives hate it at first -- they usually try to pronounce it De-VAIN-ee, which it is definitely not lol -- but once we spell it/say it for them they usually actually like it. If not, at least we do! :)

Some others I really liked but don't know if I would use are ...

Girls: Arwen (Someone else actually likes this name! lol), Anwen, Auryn, Eavan (these last two could be mn's ... DH isn't too fond of them though), Eirwen, Liadan ... apparently I like "N" endings lol

Boys: Declan (I love it, DH think's Dec=Dic and doesn't like it lol), Archer (could be mn), Brecon (w/nn Brec, could possibly use this), Killian (DH thinks people will call us lushes lol), Rogan, Asher (poss. mn), Lochlain, Lorcan, Ranson/Ransom, Taggart

I like the names Satchel, Atlas, Sylvan, and Brosnan for boys. They aren't names I would rule out using, though. A couple of them wouldn't go very well with the MN my husband has picked out, which is Lowell. (I currently have a post seeking suggestions for a FN to go with Lowell, if anyone has any ideas....) Several people have mentioned Asher, which is a name I like a lot and would definitely consider using. I'm not sure why it's one that others would hesitate using.
