That is a really cool suggestion--I'd never thought of Poppy as a nn for Penelope!

We (dh and I) have already decided that if we ever really use Penelope we'd have Poppy as the nn.

That sounds like a similar reaction to what I got for each of my kids' names.

I like the name of Grady Sullivan for a little boy and then you could always call him a nickname from those 2 names. For a girl I like the name of Felicity

Too funny that you can't name her Iva because of your co-worker. Iva is nice name though. Best of luck with your decision.

Have you considered Elizabeth? It's a classic that has tons of nicknames, and "Ellie" sounds like your picks.

Felicity makes me think of Graciela (probably not great with Griffin) or Verity.
The Griffin I know has an older sister named Riley (but not sure on the spelling) and a younger brother named Ronan.

Some from my list and my head that have those l's:
Lily, Pilar, Talullah, Priscilla, Millicent, Lillian, Shiloh, Olive, Michelle, Michaela, Aileen, Elspeth, Alida, Althea, Alethea, Alexis, Alexa, Delilah

Boys:
Probably I don't share your style here... maybe Brigham, Aaron, Ash, Camden, Charlton, Christian, James, Lionel, Lucas, Reagan, Simon, Stephen, Paul? With Gray as a middle name, I am thinking another 1-syllable first name would sound good:
John Gray Lucier
Paul Gray Lucier

But you may not like the feel of that, in which case Gray probably won't work at all.
