Just tossing around a few names...

Not expecting, but just sick and tired of lurking! DH woon't talk names unless we have a reason and I don't want to appear psycho to anyone IRL...LOL

We have a DS, Simon (almost 5!). What do you think of these names/any suggestions:

Boys:
Oliver
Owen
Noah
Seeger
Sawyer (is this going to the girls?)

Girls:
Presley
Abrielle Geena (DH is Gabriel Eugene)
Scarlett (becoming too popular, right?)
Julia

It's a hodge-podge and not very inspiring, I know. There's really no rhyme or reason and I don't really care if they are the exact same style. I just don't want anything mega-popular (or on the verge of becoming) and they should sound nice together.
Oh! Last name is Brannan, so several names just don't work.

Boys:
Oliver - Too goobery.
Owen - Very nice.
Noah - Very Nice.
Seeger - Too close to Seeker and too Bob.
Sawyer (is this going to the girls?) - May go to the girls. Also will likely surge in popularity due to popularity of Lost and character named Sawyer.

Girls:
Presley - Too Elvis. I'd actually prefer Pricilla.
Abrielle Geena (DH is Gabriel Eugene) - Gabrielle is better. Abrielle looks unfinished and looks like you're trying too hard. Geena is okay. How a bout Genevieve?
Scarlett (becoming too popular, right?)- It's just okay for me. I cant get away from Scarlett OHara though.
Julia - LOVELY!

I like Noah the best of those boy choices and feel it goes very well with Simon. I've never been crazy for Oliver, never liked Owen at all, Seeger and Sawyer seem much more like surnames to me. Sawyer is going to the girls? really?

I like Abrielle the best for the girls, although I think I'd prefer just Brielle. Presley is not feminine enough sound for me, too last-namey also, Julia is just too old-fashioned for my tastes, and Scarlett I just don't care for the sound of. If it's getting popular I haven't run across any.

I like the name Geena. I honestly think that turned around - Geena Brielle would be a really really cute girls name.

First of all, Simon's picture is SO adorable!

There's nothing psycho about discussing names if you're not pg, is there??? LOL I've been discussing names since I was five (I'm 32). And, now, I'm done having kids, so...feel free to talk to me, if you feel it's a little on the crazy side...

Here are my thoughts-

Boys:
Oliver--- This meets that "becoming" popular criteria. However, it's less popular than Simon and makes a perfect little brother to him...

Owen--- Top 50- still growing... Another good one with Simon, though.

Noah--- This one has been popular. In fact, it's already peaked and others are taking its place. Great brother name to Simon, again.

Seeger- I LOVE this name- Seger. It's been posted a few times, though. Others DON'T share my opinion... However, I'm personally not fond of same letter for siblings...too matchy. There are other ways to connect them without seeming "cutesy"...

Sawyer (is this going to the girls?)--- It's not going to the girls yet. I don't think it will, to a large degree because it's so manly. I do admit it's VERY good with Simon, even it it is two S's. It's also gaining some speed- it won't surpass Simon in popularity, though.

And now the girls-

Presley--- I like this a lot. Simon & Presley...oooh! Others won't share my view, though.

Abrielle Geena (DH is Gabriel Eugene)--- Great connection to Dad. That, I like. Simon and Abrielle....uh....not as great. But you said same style is not terribly important to you.
Giving a name "roots" is something most children come to appreciate.

Scarlett (becoming too popular, right?)--- Well, actually, Scarlett JUST broke into Top 500. So, not really, BUT it's usage doubled last year. THAT'S what you have to watch. This one will slip up on you, esp. riding on the coattails of Charlotte. BEAUTIFUL name, though. I can even overlook the two S's for siblings because Simon & Scarlett is to die for...

Julia--- I don't think so. LOVELY name, LOVELY with Simon. Too popular for your criteria. This one is gigantic in certain regions of the country.

Hmmmm--- though you didn't ask--- here are my initial thoughts of others you might like-

Simon & Levi
Simon & Grant
Simon & Preston
Simon & Calder
Simon & Brogan

Simon & Nicolette
Simon & Camille
Simon & Margo
Simon & Gretchen
Simon & Nadia
Simon & Minette
***Simon & Gemma***

Later, Ginger

Hi there,

I really like Oliver and Owen. Owen was our front runner for ages but it is becoming very popular - especially in Ontario, Canada where we live.
Noah is okay, Seeger and Sawyer are not my style.

I don't care for Presley, but i do like your other girls choices - with Julia as my top pick, followed by Abrielle.

I've never thought of using just Geena before. I am a big fan of double letters...thanks for the idea!

I haven't really ever considered Genevieve. But with the "gene" from Eugene plus the fact that my grandmother is Vivian, it could make a great middle name! (Simon and Genevieve aren't a good match, IMHO) Thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks for "taking my side" on the names and offering up a few suggestions!
Abrielle and Presley have been on my list since High School (DH and I dated then) so it's hard to tell what people might think of them 10 years later! But DH is a huge Elvis fan and I just think Presley is so cute and I agree it is cute with Simon.
Glad to know some of my boy names will work with Simon. I really like Simon and Sawyer, but there is a little Sawyer at my church...so that is where Seger came in. I just worry that since it is a surname it may go to the girls.
Thanks!
