If Kate is the full name instead of Katherine, Kathleen, Katrina, Katelynn, etc. I would use a long middle name personally. I do love Kate, though!

Kate Isabella
Kate Alexandria
Kate Olivia
Kate Sabrina
Kate Annalisa
Kate Veronica
Kate Clarissa
Kate Madeleine
Kate Vanessa
Kate Abigail
Kate Marissa/Marisa
Kate Noelia
Kate Francesca
Kate Eliana
Kate Eleanora
Kate Josephine
Kate Juliette
Kate Angelica
Kate Angelina
Kate Mariana
Kate Destiny
Kate Sophia
Kate Liberty
Kate Liliana
Kate Joyanne
Kate Addison
Kate Madison
Kate Xaviera
Kate Sierra
Kate Savannah
Kate Christelle
Kate Christiana
Kate Makenzie
Kate Jasmine
Kate Jessamine
Kate Isadora
Kate Arianna
Kate Gloriana
Kate Lorelei
Kate Lorraine
Kate Annabelle
Kate Danielle
Kate Linnea
Kate Renata
Kate Soraya
Kate Mareya
Kate Miranda
Kate Brigitte
Kate Colleen
Kate Colette

Kate is my given name. I think it's terrific, but I'm obviously biased. I would hate to be named Caitlin! I think it's fantastic that I have Kate for a full first name. It's a perfectly good one at that.

My middle name is Eliza. Kate Eliza has a completely different affect than does Katherine Elizabeth; it's an affect I really like and personally enjoy.

This is why, if you're interested in Kate as a first name, I'd steer you toward a similarly geared middle name. Kate Elizabeth just wouldn't do for me. Seems unbalanced, as in "if you gave her such a formal middle name, why the heck did you start off with a back-to-basics nicname?"

Kate Livia
Kate Alexa
Kate Delia

Or something like that. Those aren't specific suggestions, really, just examples of how you can find a middle name that is just as good as Kate, the same style as Kate and doesn't have to be, well, plain Jane.

I love Kate. I'm looking for a girl's name too, but with a monosyllabic last name, Kate doesn't seem quite right (then there's Kate Spade and Kate Moss who would disagree!) I just think it's modern yet classic, cute yet classy, strong yet feminine.
I like a 3 syllable middle name with it...what about Alexis?
I like Katie too as a nickname, but not Kaitlyn as much....aj

i am 7 months pregnant right now and actually we are naming her kaitlyn and i am telling everyone i dont want to hear them calling her kate or katie. my personal opinion is that katie and kate is too old and plain of a name. its like sarah, or elizabeth... there are just too many of them.
good luck though!!

I love the name Kate. It's classy and sophisticated but short enough to be cute for a little girl. When I was pregnant with my DD, I really wanted to name her Kate but my DH only liked it as a nn for something. I didn't want to use Katherine so opted for Caitlin (although spelt with a 'C' we spell her nn Kate with a 'K').

I think if you want to use Kate you do need a longer middle name:

Kate Evangeline
Kate Olivia
Kate Elizabeth
Kate Victoria
Kate Angelina

Good luck xxx
