Is "Kaylee" a Very Popular Name?

I haven't considered using the name Kaylee before - it just never seemed like my style. I tend to go for more unique or classic names, and I don't consider Kaylee either. However, I'm kind of starting to like it, and my husband actually loves it (we never can agree on names). I'm worried about the popularity of all the "lee" names, though. They seem to be ever so popular (Kylee, Haylee, Bailey, etc.), not to mention that I've seen Kaylee spelled a dozen different ways (Kayleigh, Kaylie, Kailey, Chaeli, etc.). Is this a name that's going to reflect an entire generation of kids with the same trademark sound? What are your thoughts on the name itself?

Oh, goodness, I am so tired of hearing this name it is unbelievable. It is at the TOP of my list on names that sound trendy to me. They are so many people I know with this name, and also Kayla, Kylie, and Kyla, it is just seeming so repetitive. Sorry, but its definetly not a favourite of mine.

This name really is very popular, especially when you include all the variant spellings. Plus, it's definitely a part of the Hayley-Bailey-Kylie crowd, which is almost unbearably popular as a group. If you're looking for unusual or distinctive, I think you'll have to look elsewhere.

It's too bad, because I actually like this name. I think it's prettier than Hayley, Bailey, et al. I associate it lately with the mechanic from Firefly (but I'm a geek).

Oh dear lord yes. This is THE trendiest grouping of names for girls of this generation. I'm SO sick of these names. I honestly think it's worse than the Maddy/Madison trendy because it's so prevelent. Check out this previous post for a listing of all the variations currently in the top 1000. Keep in mind there are tons of spellings that are being used that weren't prevelent enough to make it into the top 1000. AND these are last year's numbers -- I'm sure when the new numbers come out next month, a lot of these names will be moving up in ranking. And probably a few more permutations will appear.

My advice is that if you really love Kaylee, use a classic name like Kathleen or Katherine Leigh or Katrina Lee or

I think it's a nice name. I prefer it spelled Kayley. I don't know anyone with this name.

Don't do it...it is a meganame...the sort of name that has a million variations/spellings/similarities to other popular names of the moment. The result is that there are thousands upon thousands of girls being given this name or a name very close to it. It is also characterless and lacks all panache. Keep looking.

No offense taken. That's exactly why I asked about the name. I wanted honest opinions about it. I personally haven't heard a lot of Kaylees in my area, but I thought the name and all its variations have been overused entirely. It's kind of a pity. It's actually a nice name. I'm not sure why all the names my husband likes are so popular. They're actually great names - Emily and Kaylee are two he loves - but they are sooooo overused. I just don't want my child to be the 12th Emily or Kaylee in her class, KWIM?
