Hello. kind of new here..

I have always liked the name 'Keanu'. It means cool breeze over the mountain. I'm just not sure if it sounds too commercial given that it became popular because of 'Keanu Reeves'.

Other alternatives: "Keone" meaning: "Gods gracious gift" or so I was told.. It is also the Hawaiian form of "John"

What do you think?

Thanks = )

I love them both actally. Don't worry about Keanu Reeves, your boy will make it his own. Go for it if you love it. I actually considered it myself.

I like it. Just because its the name of an actor doesn't mean it can't be used on anyone else. I think its nice.

I am of the mind that if you really like a name than you should use it. Keanu may remind you of the actor at first, but once your little one is here he will own the name in no time.

I really like both names you picked. I think people will think of the actor when they first hear it, especially since it's an unusual name that became pretty well-known. But I don't think that's a reason not to use it... though you may deal with the occasional obnoxious person that asks if you're a big Matrix fan.

One suggestion: reading your post I remembered a boy I had a crush on in second grade, and his name was Kean (pronounced KEE-ahn). I guess like Keanu without the u. I always thought this was a really cool name, but I guess you'd have the problem of people calling him Kean (rhymes with Dean).

Good luck with whatever you choose!

I would go with Keone. It's beautiful and Keanu is too close of an association with the actor.

I wouldnt do it. i think you are right about Keanu Reeves, everyone will think your baby is named after him. I had a little girls name picked out and just before I was to give birth a movie actress with the same name became popular (and the name is very uncommmon). I decided against the name and glad I did, because even when I tell people that was a "short listed" name they talked about the actress and make comparisons between the baby and the actress - not something I would want for her for the rest of her life.
