What do you think of the name Keely/Keeley, and is this becoming a very popular name lately? Also, I've seen variations on the spelling. Which do you prefer?

I think it's very cute...too cute. It would be a sweet nickname for a baby girl, but it doesn't seem grown up or professional to me at all. It's also VERY close to the uber-popular/trendy Kayla/Kaylee. I think it would get lumped in with the -ailey names a lot.

I like it, but I named my daughter Kaylea(lee) (dh and I chose it over 7 years though!) which is pretty popular these days.

I have mixed feelings about this name, not sure why. I did have it on my list as a possible mn. I think I like it but there's something holding me back from really liking it. If I really think about it, it really doesn't sound like a name to me.

Is Keely the same name as Kiele (as in Kiele Sanchez from "Related)? I saw a definition of Kiele that said its origins were Hawaiian. But Keely is supposedly Gaelic. Is there a difference in pronunciation?

I agree with Annie ... it's cute, but doesn't exactly age well. Quite frankly, I feel the same way about my own name (Kelli), which is quite similar, both in sound and popularity (trendy K names that will/do seem dated after a few years). I have my BA and have worked in Advertising/PR, and it always felt odd introducing myself to a client or handing out my business card. Almost like they'd think I wasn't capable because my name wasn't mature or professional enough, KWIM? Anyway, HTH!

If I had had a daughter when I was a teen, this would have been her name! I remember finding it in a novel and just loving it. My tastes have changed since then, but I still really like it. It's definitely a perky name, and many people find it flighty compared to names like Katherine or Sarah, but I've always liked its energetic feel. Sadly, it is very similar in sound to Kelly, Kelsey, Kaylee, Kylie, et al. These days, most people would not consider it fresh or original. They might just think you're getting kre8iv with Kaylee/Kylie. Perhaps it's best as a middle name.

I really dislike. It sounds completely trendy and way too similar to the Kaylea/Kayla trend.

Intersting that you chose to post this now because my friend and her DH have been discussing this name for weeks. She REALLY wanted to name her baby this and he absolutely hated it. So she was pushing for it to be used as a nmiddle name, but now that the baby is here, they went with Miranda Rose (I just posted her arrival!), which I think flows much better than Miranda Keely.

As for my thoughts on it, I agree with the others, I just don't see it on an adult. I have never warmed up to the name myself, so I suppose I just don't like it. And yes, it must be getting popular because I have heard it a few times lately. But again, if its a name you just adore, than its a name you should use!

I love the name Keely!!! It is so adorable. and I like Keelyn/Keelan/Kelynn too. Other spellings Keeley in not my fave, but okay; Keelie, Keeli, Kealy, Kealey, Kealie, Keylie, really Keely is the best in my op.
