Repost, I accidentally posted this in the wrong section.
I have always loved the name Kingston and now I fear since Gwen and Gavin have named their child this, that it will become a very popular and trendy name. What are your thoughts? TIA

Kingston is a great name, isn't it?
Here are my thoughts---
First, there is a difference between popularity and trendiness.
1. Popularity indicates how often a name is used.
2. Trendiness indicates what category/type of names parents are using.
Will Kingston become popular? It will be used more often now. But it has a LONG way to go before its numbers surge. The media exposure will push it faster, of course. But using the term "popular" is subjective. I was looking for a name NO ONE in my state had used in a decade LOL; you might be looking for Kingston to be the only one is his class...
Will Kingston become trendy? Actually, you could probably already label it trendy because letter "K" is SUCH a favorite with parents AND it's a surname, which is a trend, and it's a place name, which is a trend. And because of these factors, it's a name other parents wouldn't hesitate "snagging" from you after they hear it on your babe, esp. since it's also the name of a celebrity baby...
At the same time, Gwen Stefani is not the mega-star that Angelina is--- other than naming buffs & "star" gazers, the population in general won't be able to recall what Gwen named her baby a month from now. I seriously doubt it will go above #275 on the popularity charts and that would take 3-7 years of heavily-increased usage each year-
Kingston is strong, solid, utterly adorable on a tot, and sexy on an adult, AND you've "always loved it..." which is of utmost importance!
Best wishes, Ginger

I can't see Kingston becoming very popular as a name (in fact, I've never met a single person with this name, so it seems pretty safe LOL), although some may view it as trendy just because a celebrity has used it.
However, if I heard this name on the playground I probably wouldn't even remember that Gwen had used it. I would immediately think perhaps the parents honeymooned or (yikes!) conceived the baby in Kingston or that it was just part of the meaningless placename trend (not that it's meaningless to you, since I don't know why you like it, but akin to naming a child Dakota or London with no reason other than thinking it "sounds nice" if you KWIM).
