I do not know any Lana's nor do I hear the name much IRL or on the name boards.

I am hearing Lara a lot more lately - so I think it's an up and coming name. Another similar name I like is Dana.

It's not approaching Ava's popularity yet, but I do think it will become more popular over the next few years. They do have a lot of similarities, both being short, no nn names, and sharing that 50s bombshell allure. It's nms because I'd pronounce it LAH-nuh and everyone in my region seems to pronounce it LAN-uh. It would drive me crazy.

I have an older sister named Lana Eileen. In our area we very seldom ever hear of another Lana. She is married to Dwain so they named their daughter Dalana (another made up name probably). I like it pronounced Lah-na instead of Lan-na. I wouldn't mind seeing it come back but not sure it will.

Could be...It's not my favourite personally, but it does have that "classic star" feel that seems to be popular. How about these?

Greta (Garbo)
Greer (as in Garson...especially now that Brooke Shields used it)
Rita (Hayworth)
Lena (Horne)
Mae (West)
Gene (Tierney)
Ginger (Rogers)
Myrna (Loy)
Bette (Davis)

I haven't heard Lana a lot in the Midwest. My daughter's name is Julianna but we started calling her LAH-NA so her little friends could say her name.

Like the name, though

I will have to put my 2 cents in and say that I think saying it as an Anna would be my vote. Growing up I hated when people said my name Alah-na made me feel like they were trying to make something fancy, smancey out of my name which I liked. I also did gymnastics with a Lana(Lan-uh) who would correct you if you said it the other way so I don't think she liked it either. But to each there own. Maybe if I had heard it the other way from birth my way would sound funny!
