Leora/Liora ____? and boy's L names

I'm 13 weeks pregnant with our second child. We won't find out the sex of the baby until he/she is born. My grandfather died last week and I'd like the baby to be named in honor him. My grandfather's name was Leon. For a girl, my husband and I love the name Leora (although I think the spelling might be nicer if it was Liora, nn Lia). I'm nervous about the spelling since my own name is always spelled incorrectly! Anybody know anyone with this name? Comments?

For a boy we are STUCK! I don't think I like any of the boys' names that begin with L but I'm willing to consider almost anything. Although if we are really still stuck we may consider using a name that means the same as my grandfather's Hebrew name, Label, meaning lion.

Please let me hear honest feedback about the spelling of Leora/Liora, a middle name that flows, and a possible boy's name we could grow to love.

BTW we have a 21 month old son named Benjamin Zachary who was named for my husband's deceased grandfather, Benjamin and for my deceased grandmother, Zelda. Zachary comes from the root zachor, in Hebrew, which means to remember. We love his name and it suits him perfectly.

Thanks,
Roni

First, I'm very sorry about your grandfather. I love that you want to honor him. I worked with a Leora, she was great. I really like that name. For a boy, have you considered Leo?

Hi Roni -

My middle dd has a Leora in her preschool class. She is adorable - They sometimes call her Lea.

Hi there, Roni. I love Benjamin Zachary; great job there!

I'm very sorry to hear about your grandfather. Leora/Liora would be a wonderful way to honour him. Leora does seem like the more natural spelling, but if you want the nn Lia then Liora makes more sense. To be honest, I'd spell it Leora if I didn't know any better. If you like Liora though, people will figure it out.

As for a boy name...do you not like Leo? I think it's adorable, & would be perfect as a brother to Benjamin. A few more L names that go w/Benjamin-

Lane

Laurence

Leor

Levi

Linus

Lucas

Luke

Luca

Louis

Lyle

I love Levi for you! Hope this helps.

I prefer the spelling Leora. Have you thought of Leondra or Leighanne?
As far as boys names, I think that Leo is adorable!

I like the suggestion of Liam. It sounds very similar to Leon and is such a sweet name.

I like Leora spelling better and would more then likely be pronounced and spelled correctly more often then Liora. Lynn would be a pretty middle name. I've always like Leah for a girl too.

For "L" boy names - How 'bout Landon or Lucas? I've always liked both them names.
Best of luck to you and Congratulations on your pregancy and sorry to hear about the loss of your grandfather.
Best wishes to you.

I'm so sorry about your grandfather. It's wonderful that you want to honor him. I love the name Leora, it's beautiful and very uncommon. I would stick with the original spelling to avoid confustion. Also I just think it looks prettier with the original spelling. You could still call her Lea or even Lia with the Leora spelling.

My very favorite L name for a boy is Luca, or

My Grandmother's name was LeOra,(she spelled it like that, one name with the Capital O). So I have to say I like that spelling best. It's a good name regardless of how you spell it. In fact you got a few good ones listed already. Good luck with the upcoming event.

I think Leora is beautiful! I prefer it spelt Leora, the nn Lea is still in there. I love it. Leora Faye or Leora Corinne sound nice to me.
As for boys, I think Benjamin and Luke sound really nice together. I love Landon, Lachlan, and Leo as well.
