Lila? Edwin?

Hi Everyone,
Girls:
I really like the name Lila. Lila Claire and Lila Katherine are high on the list. What do you think? Some other names we're considering:
Bridget
Margaret nn Greta
Anna
Lucy
Eloise
Holly
Evelyn
Please tell me what you think of these names. Any teasing potential? Any suggestions?
Boys:
Do you think Edwin is TOO old-fashioned? Edwin Andrew or Edwin Joseph?
What do you think of Calvin?
Do you have any other old-fashioned boy's names suggestions?
Thanks in advance!!
Liz

I really like Lila too, with the combinations you suggested. Lila is a sweet, feminine, classic name that fits a baby girl as well as a woman, I think. Of your other suggestions, my favorites are Margaret, Evelyn and Anna. But I like them all. My least favorite would be Holly. But the one with the most teasing potential would be Eloise, I think, unless she just went by Ellie. It might sound pretty unusual to a modern child's ear.
Edwin isn't too old-fashioned, to my ear. He might be called Ed or Eddie, anyway. My DF's name is Edward, though, and he goes by Edward. I LOVE Calvin - maybe because I've known some strong, exceptional men by that name. As far as other such names - I like Silas a lot.
Good luck,
Kira
I love both Lila and Edwin. I like classic names like those.

Oh I adore almost your entire list! Lila is gorgeous and a nice change from Lily. Edwin is nice, but I do prefer Edward. It seems a little more strong and masculine, slightly less dweebish.
As for the rest of your names:
Bridget - Love, great name!!
Margaret nn Greta - One of the two I am taking to the hospital (along w/ Eleanor nn Nora). Love it love it love it!
Anna - Nice, safe, a little too plain for me
Lucy - Also on my top list, DH hates this though
Eloise - I really like this, wondering why I don't hear it more
Holly - Eh, it is okay. You have much better names than this
Evelyn - Only one I don't like. I can't picture this on anyone under 50
Calvin - fantastic, like it better than Edwin OR Edward
Bridget Ila-Alison
Lila Katherine is gorgeous! That would be my pick! I also like Margaret nn Greta and Evelyn.
I too like Edwin and if it were my son, I'd use the nn Ned! Some middle name combos:
Edwin Blaise
Edwin Feodor
Edwin Henry
Edwin Ignatius
Edwin Lennox
Calvin is wonderful but it's already getting popular so I'd avoid it. Some other suggestions:
Alastair
Aloysius
Archibald
Arthur
Augustin
Balthazar
Casimir
Clement
Crispin
Damien
Dante
Emmanuel
Ezra
Fabian
Felix
I have more but don't want to make a list a mile long. Let me know if you like there or want more. :) Hope that helps!
Lila is very pretty, but I would say the stand-out name on your list is Eloise. I actually prefer Eloisa, which I find a bit softer and feminine. Evelyn is my second choice among your girls' listing, though may I suggest Evelina? (What is it with me and these A endings?)
I adore Edwin, too. I read back through the other poster replies, thinking that Edwin might get some negative comments, but there weren't any! I'm surprised, because it is old-fashioned and sometimes that catches some flack. I think it's a strong, masculine name with good nickname options. I like Ned or Win.
Let us know what you decide! Good choices all!
: ) Cara
Both Lila Claire & Lila Katherine are beautiful!
Edwin is nms though, I much prefer Calvin.
