On my list of Girls names, Lilah Pearl (or Lila) is fast becoming my favourite. My only problem with the name is I am unsure if it will flow well into adulthood. I love the name because it is so cute! But will it progress into a sucessful womans name? I also love the timeless name Elisabeth, and wonder if Lila would be a suitable nn from Elisabeth?

I think it works! I am actually considering using Lily as a nn for Elisabeth for my next one.

I reaaaally like Lila Pearl! I think it would transition into adulthood just fine.

Someone asked me once, when I said we were thinking of naming a daughter Charlotte and calling her "Hattie", "How do you get Hattie out of Charlotte?" to which I replied, "The same way you get Peg out of Margaret!" :) That said, I personally don't see Lila being a nn for Elisabeth.

If you're not sure if Lila will sound "mature" enough for an adult, I just thought I'd mention that, while cute on a little girl, I've always thought of the name as rather classic and old-fashioned. I can actually picture a little girl Lila or an older, grandmotherly-type Lila with no problem at all, so I'd definitely say it can stand the test of time for her. Oh, and if it helps, I actually think it sounds at least as mature as Elisabeth. If you want to use the full name Elisabeth, I think Lila works as a nn just fine (I've known plenty to use Lily, so that's not much of a stretch in my mind), but Lila does age just as well in my mind.

If I remember all your choices, Lila was definitely my favorite for you. It's just a beautiful name. ;)

HTH!

Although it isn't as closely derived from Elizabeth as Liz, Liza, Eliza or Beth, I don't think it would be a problem. A nickname is a nickname and really doesn't have to match the first name at all if you don't want it to. However, Lila isn't SO different that it doesn't seem at all related to it. I say go for it! :)

I think Lila is a beautiful name. It could be a nn for Elisabeth but why? If you love Lila, I say go for it. It seems elegant and completely functional for someone of all ages. My husband and I are using Elizabeth for our girl name, with Libby as our nn.
Good luck!

Lila is alright, but without the "H" have never seen it with an "H" before. If Lila is a favorite, how about considering the similiar name "Lily" that sounds a little softer and prettier. Don't think Lila is a nn for Elisabeth, but other pretty nn's for Elisabeth could be Bess or Besty-you don't hear those that much these days.
