Lily Josephine or Lily Rebecca?

Josephine was grandmother's name and Joseph is DH's godfather's middle name
Rebecca was middle name before I married and dropped it

Josephine feels more stylish and classic to me, with more nickname options (if she wants) later. But I'm afraid people might call her Lily Jo. UGH! WDYT? But I also think Lily Rebecca is cute and perhaps more accessible, as there seems to be divided opinion on the name Josephine itself.

Thanks!
Stephanie

Hi, I am brand new to this board having just discovered it this morning. I am an expectant first time grandmother and am just looking for suggestions for our daughter. IF she has a girl she wants a girls name beginning with the letter K. She likes Karolina but I feel people will always misspell that one. But for your question, I like Lily Rebecca. Naming your child is far more important than one realizes as nicknames can take on a whole new ballgame. One always is asked is that your 'Real Name'? Good luck with your pregnancy.

Personally, I think Lily Josephine flows better than Lily Rebecca. I think both names are pretty seperate, though! Good luck in choosing and blessings to your little one!

They are both georgeous!! I love them so much! Great, awesome job! :):):)

With Josephine as the MN I would be calling her by both names all the time. "Lily Josephine, go brush your teeth. Lily Josephine, did you do your homework" etc. With Rebecca I would probably just call her Lily.

Therefore, I'll vote for Lily Josephine! But really, you can't go wrong.

Hi Stephanie...I really love the sound of Lily Rebecca together. It sounds classy not old-fashioned like Lily Josephine. You are definately right to consider nicknames...they stick with a person whether they like it or not. I have that problem with my name. My parents named me JoAnn. It stands for Josephine after my grandmother and Ann after my mother's middle name. AAAAAGH! I have had such grief over my name my entire life. I hate my name. I have always been called "Jo" even after asking people (family, friends, and anyone in my daily happenings) politely to stop calling me Jo. It sounds like a guy's name...Joe. Then there's a spelling issue. Whatever name you decide for this child or for your next one, etc. ... Please watch spellings. My name is never spelled how it is on my birth certificate even after filling out forms, spelling it directly to people, etc. Even on my license, my diploma, my college degree... it is spelled wrong - and I even filled out the forms. There is usually a lowercase a instead of a capital A and usually an "e" on the end...Joanne. But I have had some documents come with it as JoeAnne...go figure? Sorry, I just had to address your post because I read about "Lily Jo" and it doesn't sound good and I worry about the "Jo" for her. Anyways, I wish you the best for a healthy pregnancy and a speedy delivery of your bundle of joy. Spare her grief, go with Lily Rebecca. Now that's nice! :)

I think Josephine is a gorgeous name - what about using that as the first name and then Lily as the middle name?

Just a thought.
