I'm not sure what it was traditionally, but I think now a male Lindsay would be strange.

Pulled up the social security database.
As as boy's name:
Lindsey/Lindsay peaked in the 400s around the turn of the 20th century
As a girl's name, it is much more popular more recently.
Started as a boy name and is now totally a girl's name in my opinion.
I agree.
My mom grew up with a guy named Lindsay, he's now in his mid 50's. I've also known a male Courtney, Whitney (they were brothers in school, and DBF now works with another male Whitney) and Leslie's ( called Les, which i think is kinda cool)
