A good friend of mine has a niece, who was born last week. It's a girl, and her name is Liriel. It's pronounced leer-ree-el. I had never heard of this name until my good friend told me, and I found it to be interesting. I was just curious to hear everybody else's opinion on it. What do you think?

Liriel - hmm...I like the "iel" ending, but alas when I look at it all I see is the word Lire. I think this is name is ok.

I have never heard it before. It is easy to figure out how to say it by its spelling, but verbally it might be confusing. If I heard it I might think I heard Arielle.

Otherwise I LOVE it!

I find it an interesting name too... it sounds like it would be the name of a very obscure, not-well-known angel or something... I kind of like it... and it also sounds very "lyrical"... Liriel... very pretty sound...not sure if I like the spelling- it looks a little like it could go for a boy- kind of like Uriel... but I do like the sound a lot...
