My Mom called me today to let me know what a girl from her work is going to name her son..........Wolf. The middle name will be her father's name and I am unsure what it is. But his first name will be Wolf. Any thoughts on that one?!?!?

Hmm....That makes me a little sad. Maybe they're big fans of Wolf Blitzer? Somehow it works for him.

We've known two German couples who've considered (and one who used) Wolfgang, so maybe it's from her heritage or a variation of a family name like that? If it's just Wolf, like the animal, that is a bit odd, but our friends always thought it was just as odd that no one here seemed familiar with this "traditional" name, since it's not very common in the U.S. at all. I might be wary of my daughter playing with a little "wolf" though hehehe. ;)

Nope, nothing to do with her heritage, just the name she wants to use. I thought it was short for Wolfgang at first, which would not be as bad, but its not. I know names can some times be a perfect fit for a child, so I hope this one works for him!

Yeah, maybe he'll be the next teen wolf and it'll be a perfect fit (LOL). ;)

That is odd ... I was really, really hoping it was short for Wolfgang (which still means "wolf trail/path" or something to that extent, but at least people would recognize it as an established name). Oh well! :)

I used to like the name "Ulf" which is Sweedish for Wolf.
