I was inspired to look at baby names in my area. Here are some of the more interesting ones I found:

Realitee
N'vie
Teel
Stormee
Victorhugo (not so bad if it wasn't all one word)
Cosme
Ne'Viyah
Kadeat
Atruyue
Thazdan
Patron
Stetson
Wrangler (gee, I bet you can't guess what area I live in)
Crockett
Remington
maKylla (I am surprised how many people weren't starting their kid's name w/ a CAPITOL letter)
Jaydaci
Britian/Britten/Briton (yes, 3 different ones, all spelled differently)
Bentlee
Alliesyn
Awbrie (okay, enough w/ the crazy spellings!)
Polo
De'MauRion
Saylor
Baux (box?)
Blakeleigh

I just remembered what else maKylla reminds me of: the cartoon character, Magilla Gorilla.

"N'vie - NO CLUE how to say this!

ROFL I thought the same thing, Steph, so I originally scanned right past it, but your comment encouraged me to give it a shot, and I came up with ........ envy! Seriously, I think this is what they named their child. "

Yes, I'm pretty sure it is pronounced Envy. Ugg!

"maKylla (I am surprised how many people weren't starting their kid's name w/ a CAPITOL letter) Ignorant not to start with a CAPITAL, Worse still to have one in the middle, and make the pronunciation ambiguous - is it Ma-keela or ma-kaila?

Phonetically, the only possible pronunciation seems to be Mah-kill-a, but I'd bet good money they think this says Michaela (sadly, it does NOT). LMAO"

I also wonder if the parents might pronounce it Ma-kyle-a? Who knows? Makes me wonder...I may have some of these kids as students someday.

Okay, I'm spending way too much time w/ this:

N'vie's mn is Bliss

Awbrie's mn is Tayhen (family name, ethnic, or made up? I've never heard this one.)

Jaydaci's mn is Diviana (like Divine?)

Found 2 I missed: Jayqulynn and Persephanie

Atleast one of the Britten's is a boy (I thought girl, but who knew?)

Bentlee is a boy (again, I assumed girl; dunno why)

D'oh! Persephanie's parents were -this- close to a cool, classic Greek name if they just hadn't tinkered with Persephone's spelling! As for the rest...well, I really don't have anything nice to say, so...umm...it's Sunday, so I'll be ladylike and not say anything.

I LOVE Persephone and can completely live with Persephanie compared to some of these other spellings!

There is a Nvie at my kid's school hers is pronounced n-Vigh(though she has a very long actual given name that is clearly ethnic) but thats the problem with made up names N'vie could be Nevaeh Envy Nvigh Neve Nevy Neva or even Nancy(ok kidding) since it was made up and we can't count on people using fonikz

Also a possibility. I just went with Michaela because it's so often a victim of just such misspellings, especially Mc-/Mack- ones from people somehow assuming it's a trendy Irish surname. ;) The capitalized K in "maKylla" seemed to indicate just such a misconception ... though I'm still not sure why they didn't capitalize the M. LOL

I have to agree ... properly-spelled, it would have been interesting and refreshing, but Persephanie just doesn't cut it. :(

And as for "Jayqulynn," I have to wonder if it's simply a horrible misspelling or if they truly intend to pronounce this "Jake-lyn" or something. Ugh.
