I just wanted to get everyone's opinions on some of the names that DH and I have been tossing around. There are pros and cons (of course) to each name, so just wanted to hear what everyone thinks! We don't know if we are having a boy or a girl yet, so we are brainstorming for both right now. Here is the girl's names that we have discussed so far.......
Isabella: I LOVE this name and love the nn Bella, but I know it is TOTALLY popular right now
Daniela: also one of my absolute fave's and not as popular, but do not like the nn Dani/Danny
Gabriella: still on the fence, and as above, do not like nn Gaby/Gabby
Christina: this is DH's first choice, I am still undecided
Julia: like this name as well, but DH is not sold
So these are the names we have talked about so far....any other suggestions are appreciated!
thanks!

Isabella: Its cute but like you said very popular, and a name that I would personally avoid right now
Daniela: its cute, and you can call her Ella or Ellie if you wanted
Gabriella: i like, same as above nn can be ella or ellie
Christina: not a fan at all, all the christies, christas, crystals and christinas make me think 80s, lol unfortunately my name is christie
Julia: like this but i like Julianna even better with nn Julia. Feels more complete to me.
I love Daniela. It's one of my favorites. I think you could call her the full name or use Ella as a nn.
Isabella and Gabriella are too popular for my taste. But if you really love them, go for it. I think the trend is on the downside.
Christina seems a bit dated. I like Christine as a middle name, though.
Julia - nice, but doesn't have the 'wow' factor for me.
Isabella: I personally love this name, and would not let the popularity of it stop me from using it. The nickname Bella is also precious.
Daniela: I don't love this name, nor do I like the names Daniel or Danielle though. I don't like the nickname Dani/Danny on a girl either.
Gabriella: I think this is a lovely name. If you don't like Gabby/Gaby, how about calling her Ella?
Christina: this seems a bit dated to me.
Julia: my favorite of your names! Absolutely love it! Have you tried selling DH on Julianna (you could call her Julia) or Juliet (nn Julie)?
Some other suggestions:
Annabella/Annabelle: still could use nn Bella
Annelise nn Anna
Giselle nn Elle
HTH!
Isabella - if popularity concerns you, I'd avoid this. ;) I LOVE Isadora, nn Izzy or Dora/Dori, as a less-common alternative, and you might also like Annabel or Claribel/Clarabel, nn Bella (though Bella itself is a quite common nn, but these give her the option of Ann/Anna/Annie and Clara/Clare as well).
Daniela - I agree. Daniela is beautiful, but the "Danny" type nns seem masculine and dated. You could use Ella/Ellie/Elle as a nn, though

I'd say Daniela. If you don't like Dani, what about Ella as a nn?
AJ, enjoying life with C.
Daniella jumps out at me because I so rarely hear it and it's so pretty.
Thanks for all your replies!
I have definately thought of Julianna (which I really like as well) but again, long story as it was just used in our family (and well, we will not use this name now!)
I do like the names ending in ella (as you could tell), so maybe Ella as a nn might be cute. Someone suggested using Nella as a nn for Daniela which I actually really like as well.
Just for curiosity then, what middle names would sound good with Daniela?
thanks!
MN ideas:
Daniela Christine
Daniela Jane
Daniela Pearl
Daniela Rose
Daniela Elise
Daniela Skye
Daniela Jewel
Daniela Ruth
Daniela Charlotte
Daniela Eve
Daniela Margaret
Daniela Katherine
Good luck!
