Love it or Hate it....Avery?

DF and I really like the name Avery for a little girl. He wants to NN her Avie(abbie w/ a V). I was just wondering what everyone here thought. The middle name would be Cheyenne. Sibs would be Bryson and Shelby.
P.S. I use to post as blue_eyedgoddess :)

Being from Colorado, Avie pronounced that way would make me think of the Avs (hockey team - Avalanche). I think 'Ay-vie' would be sort of cute.
Avery is not really my style, but I don't hate it either.
You mentioned that your DF likes it - do you?
AJ, enjoying life with C.
I don't feel particularly strong about the name Avery either way. I don't love it, and I don't hate it either. As far as the NN goes, I would think that Avie would be pronounced AY-vee, not like "Abbie" but with a V. Also, the name Avery is pronounced AY-Ver-ree, so it wouldn't make sense for Avie to be like Abbie but with a V. Lastly, I kind of like the name Cheyenne but I don't think it "fits" or "matches" too well with Avery.
To me, Avery seems like a name for a very cute, spunky, and either very WASPy or else All-American type of girl. Cheyenne seems a little exotic and even a little spiritual to me, coming from a Native American heritage...
Love the name Avery!
I'm finding that many of today's popular names are too "cutesy" -- adorable on a young girl, but not ideal for a grown woman. To me, Avery strikes a perfect balance. It sounds like the name of an intelligent, attractive, and creative woman. Of course, my daughter's name is Avery, so I am a bit biased. :)
I am a newcomer to these message boards and am expecting our first in April. We love the name Avery and are leaning towards it for our daughter. BTW, the book "The Baby Name Wizard" is quite fun to read. Avery is more popular for girls than boys and is listed as nn-proof (but it's almost unavoidable).
