Pronounced Mary-ah-na

No, I'm not considering it. ;) It was the name of a little girl on Maury (paternity test show ... hanging my head in shame LOL). Her mom even put the little marks (I never remember what they're called LOL) above a few of the vowels. I swear I was on the edge of my seat just waiting for the pronunciation. I would have said Ma-ree-own-ah or possibly Ma-ree-on-ah (Ma as in mother in both cases, not a long A like Mary). Think I would have just cut to the chase and went with Mariana. ;)

Mariana is a real soft-spot name for me. I just love it, mostly because I love the Tennyson poem called "Mariana." Ma-Rionna, though...um, no.

Shocking that Ma-Rionna's Mother was on TV to find out who the Father is. Poor Ma-Rionna doesnt stand a chance.

ha ha!!! I though My Sharona too. Hmmm, that is surprising the parents of a Ma-Rionna would be duking out paternity tests on tv. Thats tough to imagine.

LOL at "My Sharona" ;)

After I posted this thread, I saw another child (a boy) on the program also had an interesting name -- Knoa. At first I thought that one was some made-up K name ... K-no-a, K-no, K-noy, Kin-wa (could be anything on a show like that LOL). But no, it was quite simply Noah. My dh had just walked into the room and I pointed it out to him and he said "Hmmm ... K-Noah. Is that like K-nife?" hehehe Needless to say, he agreed the silent K wasn't really necessary.
