I am thinking about naming my baby due in December Madeleine or Madeline. Her middle name would be Shay. What spelling do you like better? Do you like the middle name?

To me, Madeleine is pronounced Mad-el-line. And Madeline is pronounced Mad-el-len. Which pronunciation did you want? I think with Madeline people pronounce it both ways. That's why we chose to speel our dd's name Madelyn so it wouldn't be mistaken for Mad-el-line. I think both pronunciations are pretty. And the mn goes nicely with either.

Actually, the correct pronounciation is Madeleine (Mad-eh-len -- the middle syllable is very brief. The final syllable sometimes sounds almost like "leen", but usually is "len". NEVER "line") vs. Madeline (which can be either Mad-eh-len or Mad-eh-line. I really prefer the "line" spelling for this pronciation. It makes more sense phoenetically).
I prefer Madeleine, both the spelling and the sound. I think it especially flows nicely when paired with Shay. (Which I would actually spell Shae. I think Madeleine Shae is fantastic!) However, I really like both spellings and both pronounciations. They are both lovely. Either one is very nice.
I prefer Madeleine because I just prefer French spellings that is what I am more used to.
I agree I would pronounce it Ma-de-len, and the -ine ending is more the other prnounciation.
I also like Shae spelled this way.
