Out of your choices, I quite like Ava Mae but think Ava's going to feel dated in twenty years. Ella Mae makes me think of "the Beverly Hillbillies" Ellie Mae Clampett. Not a pleasant association, there. I'd like to suggest a few alternatives to the names you've listed:

Eva Mae (Eva's a bit more timeless than Ava)
Cecily Mae (a personal favorite!)
Anna Mae (classic, simple and unfussy)
Clara Mae (lovely oldtimey sound, but strong & sassy feeling)
Ivy Mae (fresh, spunky & sweet)
Lucy Mae (I love this, Lucy's lush and elegant, Mae is sweet & sassy!)

Good Luck!

What about Carlye (pronounced Car-lee)? IMO, Carlye Mae sounds really pretty (I worked with someone who had that name- she was an awesome person!).

My stepmother also wanted to use Mae, a family name for my sister. She named her Nellie Mae. Now that I am looking for names myself, I think it is a really cute name!

those names are not my style, so it's hard for me to advise there.

even though I don't like the name Ella, I think it fits the best with Mae of your list

I don't like Ava Mae or Laken Mae because both have long As. too repetitive, rhymey.

I don't like Emma Mae - the Ms are too close. don't like Mya Mae at all, first because of alliteration, then it just doesn't sound good.

I think you need a few longer possibilities. even other 2-syllable names seem to have more "length" to them no only on number of letters, but in their sound.

how about:

Aubrey Mae
Alyssa Mae
Belinda Mae
Brittney Mae
Brianna Mae
Courtney Mae
Cara Mae
Chelsea Mae
Carina Mae
Chloe Mae
Dannah Mae
Erica Mae
Heidi Mae
Hannah Mae
Holly Mae
Hailey Mae
Hilary Mae
Johanna Mae
Jillian Mae
Janna Mae
Jenna Mae
Kara Mae
Kelsey Mae
Lindsey Mae
Natalie Mae
Natasha Mae
Nina Mae
Olivia Mae
Sabrina Mae
Sienna Mae
Sierra Mae
Sophia Mae
Sarah Mae
Tonya Mae
Torri Mae
Tasha Mae
Tiffany Mae

good luck

My oldest dd is named May. We spelled it this way because it was my grandmother's name, but I like the spelling Mae better. So yes I think it is a good name for a little girl. Out of your listed names I like Ava Mae best.

Good Luck,
Brooke
