Both names sound sweetly southern, and they have a lot of garden imagery between them--maybe because I can't help but think of the Garden of Eden and "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil." Individually, I love Eden, but Savannah is nms. It's an interesting choice, and not what I expected. (Not sure what I expected, but it wasn't this.)

I feel the same way. I don't know exactly what I expected from her, but this wasn't it. I guess because she seems so sophisticated and is an older mom, I expected much more classic names. Interesting!

ITA. I wasn't sure quite how to phrase it, but I expect something more classic (or classy) from a mom in her 40s.

I actually don't mind Eden in theory, though I don't get the best image from it without some background info, but paired with Savannah it completely sounds like a set of twins born to a 20-year-old mom just trying to sound "cool," KWIM? (And that's not a stab at young moms ... I had Kate at age 21 LOL). Hopefully that made sense.

Yes, I know what you mean. I sort of like the idea of the name Eden, but it is getting a trendy feel to it and it is the location of the fall of all mandkind- the literal birthplace of sin (if one accepts the Bible)!

I completely agree with you. I mean, this is an educated woman. She has a Master's Degree in Psychology. I never in a million years would have imagined that she'd have chosen trendy, juvenile, and, forgive me, ditzy names like Savannah and Eden. I am disappointed.

Not crazy about Savannah but I LOVE Eden.

I agree. I wasn't expecting anything classic, necessarily, and I definitely wasn't expecting anything staid or prim. But I did think she would pick names with the same intelligent and kinda quirky cool as Debra Messing's Roman, Mariska Hargitay's August, or Julianne Moore's Liv, at the very least.

Eden and Savannah sound more like they should be Britney's twins rather than Marcia's.

Actually, I did expect classic...perhaps Julia and Laura, or Eliza...or maybe Francesca. At any rate, something not like Savannah and Eden.

I wish I could rename them Eva and Susanna.

I don't think it sounds trendy or too hip. I like them both!

I am surprised to read all the comments on these two names. I happen to love them both and I am not only pregnant with my third at 40, but one of my girls names is Savanna. I don't think Savanna is at all "ditzy" or prim. I think it is very Southern, ladylike, and pretty. I think she did great!

Just my two cents. :)
