marin popularity??

hi-
we have a 2 year old daughter named Kaia Danielle, we are having our 2nd child (another girl) in february. our top 2 names are:

Marin Alyssa
and
Reive Alexandria (or Reve? -we havent decided on the spelling? any suggestions?)

we are both leaning towards Marin for a few reasons, one being that both Kaia and Marin mean water in one way or another.

i am a little concerned though that it may get popular with that new show that has a Marin on it (Men in Trees). it wouldnt bother me if it became popluar a few years later, but i hated being 1 of 3 Alison's in my class and always being Alison S. i love that our daughters name is not too common but also not so off the charts that people look at me funny. we wanted that for our 2nd daugther as well.

any input would be appreciated. the middle names are pretty much set, we are naming this baby after my husbands grandmother (deceased) and her name was Anna.

They pronounce it the same way (rhymes with Karen) but had a neat sp to it...her middle name is Susette Marie, just FYI.

hi nikki-
tks for your post, most people dont like reve/reive, but they didnt like kaia either and now do because they know and love her.

i guess once i see her i'll figure out if she is a marin or a reve, unless we find something we like better. i just saw on the other naming board the name meadow and i thought that was nice too.

I like Marin (I like this spelling, too) best with Kaia. I like Reeve better in general, though. I would spell it Reeve - Reive and Reve will both be mispronounced. I would have said Reve, "rehv," the french word for dream. Reive looks like it could be Reeve, but probably won't be spelled that way by most people who just hear her name. Then again, sometimes a spelling can totally change how you feel about a name, so if you like it you should go for it. The only "Kaia" I've known spelled her name "Kaija" and people learned how to spell it.

hi-
tks for the advise, the reason we were thinking of different spellings for Reeve/Reve/Reive was my dh thought there were too many "E's" with the obvious spelling.

i love the sound of reeve (whichever way it is spelled) i know a lot of people think of it as a boys name, but i find it so soft and pretty.

3 months to go until we have our daughter so we do have time to think about it and once we see her i hope i can tell if she looks like a marin or a reeve. my daughter was 3 days old before we named her officially, i just needed to spend time with her and decide.
