Your thoughts on the name Marina? I love it, but we live near the sea and there are many marinas (boatyards, not little girls) in the area!!!

Thanks!

I like it a lot, but I tend to be partial to M names anyway. And my current favorites generally end in A, so it fits well with my tastes. :-) I don't know if I'd use it if I actually lived near a marina, though. If, on a regular basis, you or your friends/neighbors/family go to the marina, I think it could get confusing. In that case, I'd probably go with something similar -- Marisa, Marissa, Melina, Mara, Maria, Maleah, Marla, etc. Other ideas -- Karina/Carina, Amelia, Mia, Melanie, Maya, Mallory.

I do like Marina but I don't live near the sea so I don't know how it would go over in a place like that (might do just fine). Do you think you'll live near the sea forever or are you guys the type who move around a lot?

I love the name Marina! Our last name begins with "M" and we want another "M" name for our daughter. Marina is one of my favorites.

I understand your boatyard-y comment. However, Marina has also been used by British royalty, and there is also a well-known socialite named Marina Rust. I don't know if that is a positive for you or not.

I think after you give a name to your baby, the name becomes theirs and other associations will fall by the wayside.

Good luck with your new daughter!!!

I don't love it but there's nothing wrong with it. It's just a name that doesn't appeal to me.

I love this name. It was my grandmother's mn, so there is a chance I will be using it (maybe as a mn though). I think its beautiful, classic, and unique.

It does make me think of a boatyard, but it isn't awful. NMS though.

I grew up sailing, and I don't think the name would bring boat yards to my mind! It's not like you're naming her "salty" or Skipper!"

;)

I've known someone with this name before. While it wouldn't be my personal favorite, I don't mind it. If you like it, go for it!
