May be needing a new name soon....

Well in 8 months or so :) Looks like we may be pregnant with # 3 and it takes us forever to come up with the perfect name (and seems to get harder with every child LOL!) so I am thinking early!

Our other two children are:
Rhys Christopher William (fn pr. reese)
Niamh Beatrix Anne (fn pr. neev)

...so opinions please (note...on the hypothetical name choices only....don't critique my kids names...they AREN'T changing! :D

For a boy DH is really in love with the name Roan but I don't know if I can get past the alliteration problem...I hate that whole cutesy same initial thing (and yet I really love the name Roan...oh so difficult!) Also on the list are Graeme and Seamus or Hamish.

For a girl...Islay (pr. eye-la) as in the Scottish Isle...Its growing on me and I think it works somehow with Rhys and Niamh :)

So opinions please...middle names will be after family members just like my other two DCs and there is some wiggle room to pick names that actually "flow" with the FN choice.

Oh and don't bother telling me how much my DCs teachers will hate me...I don't care ;)

When I see Roan, I say it like ROW-N(lol). If I am saying it right, then I've never heard it on a boy. I've only heard it on girls.I think Brooke Shields has a DD named this spelt Rowan? Tell me if I am saying it wrong.

P.S.I love your DCs names! Very beautiful!

LOL...well if I need the celebrity stamp (and yes you are pronouncing it correctly)...

Levi Roan Green Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke
Levi is one of the few biblical boys' names to escape overuse and remain cool.

...both of the Roan's I know personally are under age 2 and boys so I don't think its an issue...plus even Rowan is actually gender neutral so no biggie....now if only I could get over the alliteration

Personally I think the two names you have picked out are great. They also flow well with your other two childrens names. Roan/Rowan is also a personal fav. of mine for my second if it is a boy. We will be TTC #2 in Sep. so I know how it is starting early to find that perfect name. I think Roan and Islay are great. If you can't get past the two R thing here are some others you might like:

Weston (my ds's name)
Owen
Brecken
Corbin
Merrick
Morden
Holden
Mason
Liam

Sorry for any repeats I haven't read the other posts! Good luck!

OK, sounds like you have had some rude comments before on your selections, so I promise to be nice. I don't really care for Roan, but I actually do like Seamus. Graeme looks misspelled to me. If your heart is set on Islay, I think you'll be ahead to spell it Isla. Islay will most likely be pronounced "eye-lay" by everyone who reads it. Well, good luck!

Congratulations!

I know that I've told you this last time that you posted, but I absolutly love your kids' names. They are brilliant.

Roan is very handsome, & I don't think that it'd be such a problem to use w/big brother Rhys. It'd be in chronological order: Rhys, Niamh, & Roan. The fact that the 'N' name is stuck in there makes it work better. I say that if you love the name, don't let the alliteration stop you in this case. Graeme, Seamus, & Hamish are also nice though. I may like Hamish the best, but I love the fact that Graeme is one syllable.

Islay is gorgeous for a girl name, & it does fit in quite well. I've always seen it spelled Isla; if either one is correct I'd go w/Isla to make it a tad more self explanitory.

Here are a few suggestions for you...

I've only met one person named Rowan she was a girl. But I really like the name I think if its spelt Roan it looks more masculine. I think its an awesome name and hopefully you can get past the alliteration and use it. Rhys, Niamh, and Roan make an awesome sib set!

I love Roan, though I prefer it spelled Rowan. But, I think either works perfectly with your family! And, Islay is cute, though I prefer it spelled Isla. I also just saw this name in a book a couple minutes ago, Isleen, a form of Aislinn (which I love!) , not sure how Isleen pronounced though it looks like maybe Eileen or Izleen?? Good luck!!

Steph,

I remember you from the November 2004 board, so just jumping in to offer my congratulations!

My favorite on your boy list is Graeme. I like Roan a lot, too, and Seamus is nice. The only one I'm not as fond of is Hamish. Just can't get past the "ham" in there, I guess. :-P

I love Islay, too, although I've only ever seen it spelled Isla. (Of course, I've only heard of most other Celtic spellings in the last year or two anyway, so I'm not much help there. ;-) )

I think Rhys, Niamh, and Graeme... or Rhys, Niamh, and Islay would go great together. Congrats again!

Stephanie, mom to Megan Joy (6/6/03) and Julianna May (nn Annie, 11/10/04)
