My fiance(andy) and i are expecting are baby boy in november, and we still have time to think of a name, but we both agree it would be nice if we could just decide. lately, andy has expressed his liking of the name "travis". i do not want to offend anyone, but i live in North Carolina and most of the guys named "travis" in the south are very country, and sometimes a little on the redneck side. everyone i work with has the same connotation about the name.. i know that what other people think shoulnt have anything to do with what we name are son, but it does. the name is just not appealing to me. i want to know what everyone else thinks about the name.

thanks,

brooke

I live on the northwest coast and while I do like Travis, my DF also thinks it's a "country" name.

As someone who lives on the S.Carolina, N.Carolina border, I must say that I agree. It just sounds like a redneck name to the nth degree, but I guess when a lot of the bumpkins you meet are named Travis, it's hard to avoid that connotation. I could never use the name myself.

Good Luck!!

I like it, but I too, know many "rednecks" named Travis. If you really like it, go for it.

Travis is not my style. I don't so much mind the "country" thing, but it just seems like more of a low-brow kind of name (that sounds pretty snobby, I know). I think of a "Beavis & Butthead" or "Wayne's World" type of guy when I hear the name Travis.
