I'm just wondering what y'all's impression is of Elysant/Elesant. I read it on a a list of medieval name and I liked it immediately, but I want to know what everybody else's impression is before I put it on the potential baby name list.

Rhymes w/ Elephant? I think it will nearly always be pronounced this way, even if that's not the actual pronunciation. I speak French and I've tried it with a 'romance' pron. but it just keeps coming out like elephant. Kids can be cruel and this is just too easy! Don't mean to be rude: I agree the name is pretty but I don't think it's due for a comeback quite yet.

I have to agree with a PP that I immediately thought of elephant and you'd have to really hope she never goes through a "chubby" phase in her life or else you'll have to be paying her therapy bills. It looks pretty on paper. Maybe if you write a romance novel that can be your main character's name. It's just not doing it for me. Sorry. I love the idea of using a medieval name though.
