We are expecting our fourth child, a girl, in July and are searching for a middle name. We think we have decided on Emmitt as a first name but are trying to find a feminine middle name. Any suggestions would be appreciated!! Our other children are Dalton Creeke and Tarik(like Derrick w/ a "T")

Hi there! I know you didn't ask for opinions on Emmitt, but I feel like I have to say something. Emmitt is *very* masculine. I LOVE the name Dalton, but I would find Dalton and Emmitt as sibs strange, because Emmitt feels even more masculine to me than Dalton, and in your case, Emmitt is the girl! I really like Emmett on a boy. I just thought you might want to keep in mind how your daughter would feel growing up with a boy's name (and I say boy's, because not only is Emmett traditionally male, but I wouldn't even consider it unisex as I have never heard it on a girl). Please don't take this the wrong way, but just keep it in mind. Here are some other options...

Tatum Celeste

Della Sage

Calla Faye

Briar Whitby

Seren Juliet

Harper Eve

Brenna Laine

Amaya Brynn

Hadley Kenna

Everly Aurora

Grier Madison

I tried to pick name that were more unisex, rather than strictly male. Hope that helps, and please take it into consideration!

Emmitt seems better on a boys name than a girls..

How about these:

  • Perri Elizabeth

  • Brett Caroline

  • Ainsley Paige

  • Chandler Victoria

  • Chase Rosalie

  • Meriwyn Chase

  • Carlyn Rose

  • Dylan Ellerie

  • Drew Elena

  • Paxton Jane

  • Teagan Mattea

  • Elliot Phoebe

  • Brinley

This is totally off topic, but Emmitt looks so much like "emit" - would you consider Emmett?

For a middle name, I'd probably go with something much more feminine - Emmett Elise, Emmett Lisette, Emmett Corinne, Emmett Clara, Emmett Cherisse, Emmett Susanna, or something along these lines.

Thank you for the ideas, we were going w/ Emmitt because that's how my husbands father spells it. :)

Thank you to everyone that actually gave name ideas. I appreciate all of the help!! I am curious why some people think that names like Emerson and Logan are ok names but Emmitt is not. Half of the names I see are not even names in the traditional sense anyway. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I never expected such criticism.

For me, I don't like Emerson, Logan, or Emmett on a girl!! I know I myself would hate to have a boy's name, so I would never even consider naming my child that. However, many people are now considering Logan and Emerson to be unisex. Emmett is not unisex, it is a boy's name. It just doesn't sound appealing to me at all.

IMO any name with an obvious girly nn is open to be an unisex name.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I would never expect everyone to just love the name but I also thought people would be a little bit more understanding. :)
