We were going to use the name Amelia if we had a girl. We were going to use a family name as middle name--so Amelia Dacy. I was trying to decide between having the nickname Mia or Lia for Amelia. So you could still name her Amelia but nn Mia.
Unfortunately doesn't look like I'll be using that name for a while (if ever).
We're still debating the Mia/ Amelia topic. I like Mia better, but it's so common I think we'll stick with Amelia and call her Mia. Kinda doesn't make sense to me, but that's OK. ;)
I agree it should be a classic middle name with Amelia, not so much with Mia.
Personally, I really like both names. Where I am, Amelia seems to be the new Emma/Madeline. Mia isn't popular at all!
Mia grows up so well with a girl! Darling on a little tot, sophisticated and fun at 25.
But...either name is lovely.
In my opinion, I'm tired of seeing Rose, Grace, Clare, etc. for the middle name everytime someone chooses a classic first name...JUST STRICTLY MY OPINION
Do more of a first name for the middle name...be original---Amelia Caroline, Amelia Corinne, Amelia Erin, Amelia Natalie, Amelia Bridget, Amelia Lindsay, Amelia Lauren, Amelia Megan, Amelia Rachel, Amelia Vivian, Amelia Candace, Amelia Beatrice, Amelia Gretchen
For Mia, you could do fun and funky/ classic/ unusual/ long ---This name can handle it!
Mia Ashton, Mia Rachelle, Mia Kathryn, Mia Natalie, Mia Delaney, Mia Nicolette, Mia Gracelyn, Mia Camille, Mia Ellery, Mia Isabel, Mia Gabrielle, Mia Scarlett, Mia Whitley, Mia Waverly, Mia Rae, Mia Annslin, Mia Elizabeth, Mia Lauren---
I love Mia Vivian or Amelia Gretchen. Best wishes! Ginger
Where I am, I know of 2 little girls named Mia and 1 named Amelia. So I don't think either name is as popular around here as it says on the SS website. I noticed Mia is only on the top 5 in Hawaii -- so I'm sure that helped a lot with its ranking. Since I'm not in Hawaii hopefully we won't know too many other Mias if that's what we choose.
I agree with you on Rose, Grace, Clare, etc... I really want something different for a middle name. I do like those names, but again, I don't want to use something too common.
I like Camille but I"m trying to avoid a "C" name for first or middle because our last name starts with C.
Amelia Beatrice -- hadn't thought of that --Beatrice is my aunt's name -- I'm sure she'd be flattered. :)
I noticed your tag is treysmom, so I'm assuming you have a son and he's the third? The reason I ask is that I have a strong opinion on giving kids a unique first name and a family middle name. My kids are older (8 & 6). I have found that as kids get older, especially in school, their name is very important, particularly the story behind their name. For this reason, I think if you have a son who is the third, then your daughter needs to be named for someone too! Amelia Beatrice is appealing, especially since it's after your aunt.
One more thing to think about- Initials ABC. I think that's pretty neat, but you may not. Keep us updated! Ginger
My husband was actually hoping we could come up with a middle name that starts with B so she'd have the initials ABC. And my aunt also told me that she thinks our daughter should be named after someone since our son is.
At 35 weeks pregnant I think we may finally be making a little progress...

Havent' decided on a middle name yet for either.
