MN for Gwyneth?

I just found out that I am having a girl in November! My husband and I have already said we agree on the name Gwyneth, but we need a good middle name. I was thinking about using my mom's name, Theresa, but I'm not sure if I like the way it sounds together. I was thinking that it might be nice to go with a cute, trendy middle name as a contrast to the first name, which is kind of old style. I was thinking "Gwyneth Katherine" for a while, but I think the combo sounds too old and classic--I want to I guess "liven" it up a little bit. Does anybody have any suggestions? Thanks in advance, you guys have some great suggestions on the other messages I've been reading on these boards! :)

I love the idea of honoring your mom. I think that's way more important than finding one that just sounds nice, or is modern. I think Gwyneth Therese has a little bit better flow than Gwyneth Theresa, but either would be lovely.

This is funny, Gwyneth is our #1 name for a girl, and my mom's name is Teresa! Weird!

I think Gwyneth Theresa is beautiful and significance is so much more important than just the way it sounds.

I would argue that an oldfashioned name, when using the right one, could better brighten up a name than an expected, trendy name. Something like Beatrix, Aurelia, Clementine, Della, Faye, Anastasia, or Tamsin, is so much more interesting to me than a "cute, trendy" name. Katharine is nice, but VERY common as a mn and doesn't really do anything for me unless it is a family name.

You could do Gwyneth Tess/Tessa as a similar option to Theresa (it is a common nn for Theresa).

I would go with either Gwyneth Tess (first choice) or Gwyneth Theresa. Good luck with your decision!

How about Gwyneth Tess or Gwyneth Tessa to honor your Mom without actually having to name her Gwyneth Teresa?

Some other suggestions:

Gwyneth Olivia
Gwyneth Rebekah
Gwyneth Eliza

Thanks, I love all those suggestions! I really like Gwyneth Daphne and Gwyneth Adelaide. I am not sure about Tess/Tessa as a middle name because I know my mom doesn't like it when people give her a nickname! People will try to call her "Terry" and she will always correct them and say "It's Theresa!" LOL! But, I did have another thought to honor my mom. She was actually suppossed to be named "Terezie" to honor her greatgrandmother, but the story goes that her mother didn't know how to spell it when she filled out the birth certificate so it became Theresa instead. So I thought about using Terezie as a middle name (pronounced "ter-ay-zee"--it's a Czech name, my greatgrandparents immigrated from Czechoslovakia). Does that "flow" better than Gwyneth Theresa?
So I dunno. I'm still going back and forth. But at least I have a lot of time to consider it. Knowing me, I will probably remain undecided until the day she's born! This is my first baby so it's all so exciting and a little overwhelming!! Thanks again for all the suggestions...and how funny that another poster's (Lizash26) mothers name is Teresa and you love Gwyneth for a girls name too! Do you think you might use Teresa as middle name? Who knows, maybe one day there will be two "Gwyneth Theresa" 's out there (with only a slight spelling difference:)) Small world, huh?

I think Gwyneth Theresa is lovely and very fitting. I love the family link. That's a great way to select a mn. Katherine and its variants are pretty when they are used as family mn. Otherwise, Katherine is simply a filler middle name. There are catchier options to go with Gwyneth.

Your attempt to modernize it brings to mind:

Gwyneth Megan

Gwyneth Lauren

Gwyneth Avery

Gwyneth Bliss

Gwyneth Ansley

How about Gwyneth Therese....without the short a sound at the end. You'd still be honoring your mom...
