Thanks to Kelli--and her friend with the surprise girl--, I have decided to do another post, mostly for fun, but also *just in case*. I have done other girl polls for fun, but this time I chose to use different names than usual, ones that I like but haven't really thought about much. What are your opinions??
Adelle--a newer entry to my list, is it too old lady sounding?
Ainsley--comletely new. Is this name trendy? Why did it pop into my head?
Aubrey--I have liked this one this entire pregnancy, not my normal style name
Candace--NOT Candi/Candy. I think I like this as an alternative to Cadence, which I love.
Cassandra--To honor my Mom who is Sandra
Liana--I like Leah, but this is a nice switch
Livia--LOVED this name for years (Ceasar Augustus's wife)
And for the record, I do believe that the ultrasound tech was right and I am having another boy!!

Those names are gorgeous! What about the name Lana? Pronounced like llama except with an "n" instead of an "M". Seeing how you think you're probably having a boy, keep these names in thought for next time! LOL! Assuming you're having a next time!

Adelle -- I don't think it sounds too old, but it does have a very traditional, southern vibe to it. I really like it as a middle name.
Ainsley --
LOL ... fun Theresa! The surprise little girl definitely made me want some more replies to my "just-in-case" list as well! ;) Let's see ...
Adelle--a newer entry to my list, is it too old lady sounding?
- I actually like this, but if you're worried about it being too "old lady" maybe something similar but a bit more familiar, like Adeline?
Ainsley--comletely new. Is this name trendy? Why did it pop into my head?
- I like this! I have heard it more lately, but I wouldn't say trendy. I do prefer the spelling Ainslie, just because it seems more feminine and less surnamey (and both are listed as equally accepted in my Celtic name books, so it's not a "tryndee" mispelling by any means LOL)
Aubrey--I have liked this one this entire pregnancy, not my normal style name
- cute, but if I remember correctly I didn't like the meaning (a friend was considering this but didn't like that it meant "elf ruler" or something like that LOL) ... a similar name I do love is Audra
Candace--NOT Candi/Candy. I think I like this as an alternative to Cadence, which I love.
- oddly enough, although I like Cadence (which I know is becoming quite popular, so I can see why you might avoid it), I never liked Candace ... maybe because it does make me think of candy? hehe I guess it doesn't help that all the girls I grew up with named this were pretty snobbish, so maybe a personal association
Cassandra--To honor my Mom who is Sandra
- different without being unfamiliar, and a GREAT way to honor your mom without just naming her Sandra, IMO ;)
Liana--I like Leah, but this is a nice switch
- this IS a nice switch, and a bit more "substantial" than simply Leah (although she would still have the option of using the nn Lia as well!) ... be aware of the popularity of similar names like Liliana, Eliana, etc. though, if that would bother you
Livia--LOVED this name for years (Ceasar Augustus's wife)
- I like this as well, but again be aware of its similarity to the popular Olivia
So really, I like most of them, so not much help there LOL. At least I could comment on them though. Maybe that will help ;)

I have had the name Livia as my dream girl's name for YEARS, especially after being such a huge fan of the mini-series "I, Caludius." And for years my husband has said he HATED it because it sounded like the girl would be a little spoiled brat. So I had pretty much moved on from the name knowing he did not like it at all.
Yesterday I showed him my newest *just in case* list and he sees Livia and, like he's never heard the name before, he says, "I like Livia. That's pretty."
AAAHhhhhhhh!!!

LOL! How funny. Isn't it ridiculous how people can forget those names you planted?
It reminds me of an interaction I had with a good friend of mine: When she was pregnant with her second daughter, I helped her choose the name Abigail. (Her first daughter had been named after her late mother, so there wasn't much help needed). When she was pregnant with a third girl she came to me with her criteria: it should be feminine and cute, end it y/ie or have a nn that ends in y/ie, be fairly popular, and go well with her sister's names Maggie and Abbie.

I like all of your names. But, I thought I would point out that if there is a nickname associated with a name, believe me, they will be called that before they are out of elementary school. If you really don't like Candy, skip to one of your other names. I appreciate also that you are using normal spellings. It's not much fun going through life with everybody mispelling your name (surnames are hard enough!).
I think Livia is a variation of Olivia. So, there's another name to consider. I too like historical names.
Good point about the nickname. I would prefer Candace but I know there are those that would automatically shorten it. I think at this point, Candace is at the bottom of my list, probably even off the list!!
Thanks for your thoughts!
