My mom's a name bully

I already have a 4 yr old girl named Jordan, and I just found out today I am having another girl! Well when I was pregnant with Jordan I was only 17. I wanted her name to be Layla but I was bullied out of it by my mom. Now I am older and I just ignore her...hehehehe. Would it be weird if I named this child Layla?

I don't think it would be weird at all. I think it's great that you still love this name and have the opportunity to use the name you wanted to back then. I don't think you HAVE to use it, obviously. If you find that you don't love it as much as you used to, you can always start a new search. But if you still love it, I absolutely think you should use it.

FWIW, I think it's a beautiful name though I do prefer the Leila spelling. I just think it's a little more timeless and not as associated with the Kayla/Kaylee/Hailey/Bailey craze.

I agree with Annie, both about using the name that you love and about the Leila spelling. Best wishes!

I also agree. I would definitely use the name you love, and Leila (prefer this spelling) goes really nicely with Jordan.

Not odd at all. In fact, we used one of the names from our (very) short list with our second dd as the name for our third ... still loved it. ;)

I'm another that prefers the Leila spelling. It just seems a touch classier, more visually appealing (ie. "prettier" LOL) and avoids any association with the "ayl" names (Kaylie, etc.) or random Y (Ayden) trends -- although I realize it IS a valid name/spelling.
