Name for baby 3

I'm pregnant with baby #3, and I totally thought I had my names picked out. I think I'm set on the boy's name, but the girl's name is troubling me.... I have loved the name Jolie (pronounced JO-lee) since high school (nothing to do with Angelina Jolie) and considered it for the name of our first girl. My husband is dead set on naming our children family names. Our boy is Maxwell Kurt (after two grandfathers) and our girl is Kazzie Emma (a hybrid of Kathy and Suzi--two grandmothers--and Emma is a great grandmother's name; trendy, yes, but she was my favorite great grandmother, left lots of special family things behind for me, etc.). Anyway, I was able to convince my husband that Jolie is a family name too (he has a great grandfather Joseph and I have a great grandfather Leo), so I was tickled that he agreed to it. Then...our neighbor had her second baby a month or so ago and named her Josie. Is it too weird for me to still stick with the name I love when it's so close to our neighbor girl's name (they will likely be in the same grade when they start school)? I also love the spelling Jolie--I think it looks cute and goes well with Kazzie. But then there's the whole Angelina Jolie thing.... Does it look too much like I'm copying the name from the actress even though I wouldn't pronounce it like she does? I don't care much for Joely b/c it looks too much like Joel or Joey. And Joelie looks dumb. So does Joley. Help!

I think it works well, I am one for different names and uniqueness! I wouldn't let Josie change your mind as to me it doesn't sound the same. I know how you feel about having names all picked out..we are 8 weeks for our due date with #2 and I'm struggling with names. I thought I had everything all figured out. :) If you love the name and it "fits" the baby go with it, if not you'll always second guess you choice!!

I think you can still use Jolie. I would keep the spelling.

If you are still not sure - you can also use:

Can I ask what names you have picked out? Do you know what you're having?

hello!! if youre having doubts about a name, then maybe you shouldnt use it. i dont like the name jolie to begin with, even though it means beautiful (or something close to that). i had my kids names picked out too-and ive had 2 girls and havent used even 1 of the names i was so sure i wanted. i dont think i could use jolie because of the actress. and you wont be pronouncing it any diffrent-she pronounces hers jo-lee-the same way you would be. that being said-i love maxwell and kazzie is just so unique-very nice choices. for a girl, since your hubby wants the family connection-what about-joelle, lea(instead of leo),josephine or my name-joanne? is there another family name you like? a middle name or even a twist on the boys name you have chosen? good luck-hth!!

Wow.. that is a name I have picked out.... and I do know what you mean about the pronunciation.. it rhymes with holy.. not the emphasis on lee at the end like Angelina Jolie.....I think that's what you meant.

Well I could be wrong, but I think Joely Fisher pronounces her name JO-lee (not jo-LEE like Angelina), so the Joely spelling would make sense to me -- especially if Joseph went by Joe. ;) Just a thought.

Yes, Joely Fisher does spell her name that way, but I'm inclined to go with the "ie" spelling since our other daughter's name is Kazzie with an "ie." What do you think? Do you like the way Joely looks? I just think it looks so masculine.... But then Jolie looks so Angelina.... WDYT?

Based on visuals alone, I do prefer Jolie. But I actually prefer it NOT end exactly the same as your other dd, Kazzie's, name, KWIM? That way, even though they sound similar, they don't actual look overly matchy, if that makes sense.

I don't know if the Joely spelling is my favorite for you or not, but I do think it would be familiar, thanks to the actress, and I do like the fact that it actually has "joe" in it.

HTH ;)

I think that the meaning behind the name is cute but unfortunately with all of the press regarding Angelina, I think people would associate and pronounce it as such.
