Name begging to be mispronounced?

I just found out by ultrasound I am definitely having a daughter. (I have a poll up too).
My husband is set on an Italian name to go with our very Italian last name.
One of the names I love is AGNESA, which is pronounced without the Hard "G."
The pronunciation is Ahn-YAY-za. This is the Italian version of Agnes, and is more like the French pronunciation of Agnes, which is Ahn-yes.
Anyway, I am very interested in honest opinions whether people like this name, is is too hard to pronounce, too much for a little girl. Does it sound pretentious to the American ear.
Thank you!

For instance, a friend of mine named her little girl Amalee (Am-Ugh-Lee) she was called Emily all the time. My friend absolutely hates it.

I'm sure hoping the G in that pronunciation is a typo ... I'd hate to be named "Am ugly" as well. LOL Seriously, I'm sure you meant like Emily, with an A beginning sound, but couldn't help but chuckle. ;)

As someone who has her name pronounced DAILY (including at my college graduation), I say go with a name that isn't easily mispronounced. In the business world, it isn't that much of a big deal, but every substitute teacher, friend's parent, etc. growing up messed it up. I have since some to answer to anything that sounded similar. I've had birthday cards with my named spelled the "normal" way, and constantly have colleagues who can't seem to spell my name correctly. Even at almost 30, it still bothers me sometimes.
Caulyne (pronounced Colleen)
