The name Betty

I'm due August 3rd and my husband and I have chosen Betty for our baby's name. She'll be named after my paternal grandmother, whom I am VERY close to.
Issue is, we've gotten some pretty bad feedback on the name when even mentioning it casually.
I personally think it's classic, cute, easy to say and spell, and honors a woman very important to me.
Thoughts on the name?

yes, Betty can work!! a girl cpl yrs ahead me in school, her name was Betty Jo.. no one commented on her not being Beth (and we were in the 80s). she was rather popular, good in school, creative, so her name certainly didnt hold her back. i think i'd give Betty "today" middle name tho, maybe such as, Betty Jade, Betty Grace. anyhow, if you love Betty, name her Betty! especially honoring your grandmother. your Betty will be just fine!!!

I think that it's a beautiful name. It's established enough as a stand-alone name that you really don't have to use a formal version as her given name. It's certainly no worse than "Sadie" or "Molly." It's a wonderful tribute to your grandmother, and your daughter will probably be grateful to have that link to her heritage when she is older. This name also has the advantage of being quite rare while still being a real, traditional name that most people are familiar with.
You should take any negative feedback you get with a grain of salt. Consider what kind of names these people like. Do they prefer names like "MhyKahylaieea" or "Madysun?" If so, do you really care what they think about the name you've chosen? There is also the strong possibility that their opinion will change once they get to know a sweet little girl with the name.
IMO you should definitely go for it.
