Okay, we love the name aidan and my so's name is Scott and he wants the baby to be named after him if it's a boy...Aidan Scott...problem is, the last name starts with an S...initials A.S.S. I am not liking that at all...what are your opinions? Also, if we varied the spelling to Eidan would that read as the girl's name Eden?? Any suggestions? I am really trying to keep that name somehow...Thanks

Personally, I would not go with the initials A.S.S kids can be so cruel sometimes and even things as simple as monogrammed towels would be tricky.
I also would not go with the spelling Eiden.
How about Scott Aidan S and call him Aidan?

I really don't like the idea of changing the spelling of Aidan. Eidan looks silly to me, but I can understand where you're coming from.
Option 1- Choose a different name. Have you considered the many other -aden names?:
Brayden
Caden
Hayden
Jayden
Other names with Aidan style:
Wyatt
Cole
Charles nn Charlie/Chaz
Brody/Brady
Tanner
Keenan/Keegan
Shane
Cory
Kellan

Option 2- Name him Scott Aidan S**** and call him by his mn

Option 3- Give him 2 mn's
ex.
Aidan Isaac Scott S***
Aidan Nathaniel Scott S****
Aidan Noah Scott S****
etc.

Option 4- Give him your husband's mn as his mn.

Hope that helped, good luck!

I would definitely not use the initials A.S.S. or change the spelling of Aidan. I do really like your name choice though. I second the suggestion of Scott Aidan S. You can still call him Aidan. A lot of people go by their middle names.

Good Luck!

I think I would go with Aidan MN#1 Scott. I know a lot of people do go by their middle names so you could use Scott Aidan as others suggested, however it would be a bit odd to me to have two sons with Scott as their first name - even if it's just on paper.

Is your older son old enough to understand why you don't want to use A.S.S?

LOL No, the baby's father's name is Scott (not older brother). I, too, read "so's" as "son's" the first time and had to go back and reread before I realized. ;) So by using Scott Aidan, and calling him Aidan, she'd be naming him after his father, but using the mn on a daily basis to avoid confusion AND use the name she wants without the naughty initials (this is the option I'd probably go with in this situation, btw, because I can't remember if I replied earlier or not now LOL). ;)

Don't give him those initials! Use Aidan or use Scott but don't use both! And I'm not liking the Eidan thing. Weird.

Agreed with Scott Aidan & call him by his middle name.

Other Irish names that (I think) are similar to Aidan:
Liam
Egan
Lachlan

or, not Irish, but:

Arden
Hayden
Holden

I would definitely not use those initials. Why not use Aidan Scott and then add another name before the last name (maybe your last name or a family name?)
