name I heard today

I was at Target today and heard the name Spencer for a little girl. It's not one that I would pick but it was cute on her. Is this a name that is being used for girls a little more now? My dd has a girl named Cooper in her preschool class and a Quinn in her dance class. Just wondering if anyone has named their daughter a predominately (sp?) male name and now regrets it? Is is too much of a hassle when everyone assumes she's a boy when they see it written? Or, is it really not a big problem in every day life? I don't mind unisex names at all (for girls) but was just wondering what some thoughts were from people who have used them. Thanks!!

I personally don't like Spencer or Cooper for girls.
I like unisex names aswell. Names like Spencer, Ryan, Logan, Riley, Evan, Aidan, and Alex are all "boy" names that really appeal to me for a girl. Every name I've listed here I have heard on a little girl atleast once.

Our daughter is named Kadyn. We didn't even know it was a boys' name until about three years after we'd fell in love with it. (We were at a wedding and the flower girl's name was Kadyn - this spelling - and we just adored it and immediately chose it as our girl name for a future child. We were just barely married ourselves!) So not only did we name our daughter a boys' name, but we fell into the whole "y" controversy as well.
I don't regret naming her Kadyn for one split second. I love her name and it's so cute on her.
We did go with May for a middle name. May was my paternal grandmother and is a very special family name. We call her Kadyn, Kadyn May, May-may, and Kade (I know, another boys' name!).
Hope that helps!
