Not too long at all! (my daughter's name, first, two middles & last name has 29 letters total)

Clara Kathleen Brady sounds lovely! Lyrical, sweet and will age well.. Clara is a name that's proven itself over & over again as suitable for an adult, in whatever profession.

A Makenna not only looks mispelled but surely there's not a soul alive who thinks that Makenna would make a great name for a lawyer? EEEK! It just screams "daddy wants a three year old forever" to me.

DEFINITELY talk to his mom... Kathleen honors her and he doesn't like it? Tell her that!!!

Clara Kathleen is quite lovely and I say keep insisting on it.. your daughter will thank you!

Devin (Who still,at 37, has issues with HER dad for insisting on her name!)

No, it's not long at all. I think it is wonderful! I love the name Clara and Kathleen is my sister's name (which I was always envious of). I must say I am not a fan of Makenna Lynn. Makenna is just nmsaa. I think it's too trendy and like you said, has no meaning. Lynn is my mn and I always hated it! It's just so blah and feels like filler. If fact, my name has more letters in it than Clara Kathleen Brady, and I always considered my name to be pretty average in length.

Good Luck!!

I like Clara Kathleen way better than Makenna Lyn. Exactly how is Clara Kathleen longer than Makenna Lyn? They have the exact same number of syllables.....so no longer to say, and not much longer to write. He just doesn't like it. Unfortunately, you'll have to go back to the drawing board with him, probably, to pick one you both like.

I happen to really like them both! Makenna is one of my faves, but my dh prefers Makenzie. I like any name with Lyn/Lynn in it. And, Claire is one of my faves for a middle name, Clara is pretty too. And, any form of Kate is good in my book! Maybe you two can compromise?

Clara Katelyn

Katelyn Clare

Kendalyn Clare

Makenna Kathleen

Makenna Clare Kathleen (use 2 mn's)

Kathlyn Makenna Clare

just some ideas...

I actually really like Makenna, I think it's more original, but if having a history or special meaning is importnat to you then I agree you should go for it. Clara Kathleen is not too long at all and is equally pretty, I know someone already sugested it but maybe there's a compromise in there somewhere?

Thanks guys for all of your advice! My husband decide that he did want to name her after his mother, just didn't like the sound of the name in that order! we are going to name her kathleen clara and she will go by Kate! I am fine with that as long as people don't call her kathy. That is what my MIL goes by and i don't want two of them! That is if we have a girl! we don't know yet!!??
