Name Question

My question is regarding one of the names that is in our pick in the poll down below.

What is the likely hood of a child being called by his first and middle name, for instance, the name here is John Preston. Do you think that in time he'd end up just being called John?

Thanks for your input.

I have a friend with a 6 year old DS John Patrick. He has always been called by the double name. I don't know if that will change as it gets older, though.

If you call your DS John Preston; others will follow your lead. I think it's a very nice name.

If you call him John Preston and introduce him as John Preston, everyone will follow suit. I know TONS of people who use both first and middle names. It's the same as using a specific nickname or avoiding a specific nickname or using a middle name rather than the first name. Whatever you introduce him as and call him yourself, others will pick up on it and follow.

I think when he's very little you get to decide and when he gets to school, he will decide.

I think that if you called him John Preston, most people would follow your lead. I DO think however that when he got older, say to highschool/middleschool age, it would be shortened to John.

I honestly think the only ones who will consistently call him John Preston will be you and you husband. In school, they will call him John, friends will call him John, ect.

I do love the sound of John Preston though!

Lisa, I think the others are right..at first, they will follow your suit, then, as he gets older, it may be shortened. BUT, he'll always be called John Preston by you if that's what you like!!! Great name too and I liked Preston Graham too!
