I am just a lurker here, I just found out I am pg, and am in the very early stages of name choices. I don't really want to pick any until after we have an u/s and find out the sex. But we have been spending a lot of time in the car lately and I thought it would be a good time to go through a baby name book. So I sent DH to go buy one, and in his defense I probably would have bought the same one, it has 25000 names in it. But most of them are VERY ethnic and I can't even pronounce them!

We want something a little different, but not totally out there. Does anyone have a favorite book? Or how do you go about finding names?

Thanks,

Meg

Hi there! Congratulations on your pregnancy!

One of my favorites is "The Penguin Classic Baby Name Book: 2,000 Names from the World's Greatest Literature" by Grace Hamlin. While this is by no means a thorough listing of names, it does have the classics along with some lesser-known variations and less common names. You'll find some good choices here.

Good luck!

My favorite book is "The Very Best Baby Name Book in the whole wide world" by Bruce Lansky.

Sorry but I have to interject here - please don't believe any of the origins and meanings you get from Bruce Lansky.
