Just wondering if you think Nixon is too close to Nicholas. Dad's name is Nicholas and I really like Nixon but I am wondering if it sounds too cheesy!

I thought I was the only one who had that immediate reaction!!

I mean, it's not as bad as naming your child Hitler, but there is a definite connotation to the name that for many is negative.

In theory, it's a nice idea. In practice, I wouldn't name a child Nixon.

(I'm sure there are others who feel they can't name a child Kennedy, Carter, Reagan or Clinton for similar reasons, but I don't think there is the same level of instant recognition of it being a president's name in those cases...)

I agree! It makes me think of a president who was impeached.

Love the name...and knowing that it means "son of Nicholas" makes me love it even more. Sounds like it would fit real well.

Or a president who resigned, rather. ;-) Though if he hadn't resigned, he most likely would've been impeached.

Anyway, to the OP: It's a great idea to name him Nixon, as his father's name is Nick, but I think most will think automatically of Richard Nixon. Have you considered using Nicholson?
