name your daughter after yourself?

My very best friend is pregnant with her third child, not due until May. She has 2 boys, ages 8 (Peirce) and 3 (Kyle). Although it is still too early to know the sex, she is thinking about if its a girl, on naming it after herself. (Not sure how DH feels about that though.)

She is named after her Grandmother. Her name is Alida (Ah-leeda), a name I like since we have been best friends since we have been 5 years old.

What do you think? I know its "okay" for the sons to be named after the dad, but rarely have I heard this the other way around. Just wondering how many of us out there would consider doing this??

THANK YOU FOR THAT HELPFUL TIP THAT YOU GAVE ME REGARDING NAMING MY DAUGHTER. IT IS SO DIFFICULT!!!! I DID NOT THINK ABOUT CHANGING THE RAY INTO RAE. THAT MAKES ALOT OF SINCE. I WAS REALLY THINKING RAE'ANNA ? HOW DOES THAT SOUND TO YOU? DO YOU THINK THAT THIS WILL WORK FOR HER THROUGHOUT HER YEARS OF GROWING ALL THE WAY INTO ADULT HOOD ?

My grandma did this, but used a different middle name for her daughter. I think it's okay, but I personally would not do it, and I would not name the son after the father either. I think variations of the name I would do.

I am named for my mother and I wish I wasn't. it has created confusion most of my life...some of it easy to deal with (phone calls etc) and some of it impossible to deal with 9the 3 main credit agencies have us mixed up so when I check my credit rating it says I had about 10,000 in credit at age 3). It['s not a bad thing in my case becasue my mom has great credit but can you imagine if she had horrible credit and it affected me when I bought a car or a house? You'd think they could get it straight with our social security numbers but they can't! I strongly recommend NOT doing this!
