A friend of mine said to make the naming game simple, go to a store that sells the "cabbage patch dolls", b/c they are back! and just pick a name from one of those dolls then purchase it to keep! I'm not sure of this being those dolls have the wierdest names but just thought I would post this idea. Thanx! :)

When I was a little girl my CP doll was named Katrina May. Not too weird but I know what you are saying. Plus I don't think I could name my kid after a doll. JMO!

If you found a name you really liked, I guess it would be kind of neat (you could save the doll for the baby, so it would kind of be special -- although I don't know if I'd tell them I named them AFTER the doll). My first cabbage patch kid (from about 1984 or so lol) was named Anna Gabrielle ... not bad. However, the one my sister got that same Christmas was named Dorita Lita hehehe. Guess it's kind of hit or miss with them. :)

I just love to look at those names! Some are okay. My cabbage patch was a preemie boy named Benjy Adrian. Don't think I'd choose that one!

The company uses a computer program..........they just put the names in and it spits out a combo. They now have been doing ethnic names for the asian or hispanic-looking dolls too.......I guess to increase appeal. I heard of someone typing up lists of names and throwing them in a hat and picking out two.......same concept in naming, I guess.

I'm much too picky to name that way. It has to be "just right" and then I agonize over whether or not it really is just right after we have one picked. The only time I seem to actually really love it is after the baby is named and we've been using the name for a few weeks..........then from then on, I've loved both my boys' names and had no more doubts. But I can remember even when they were a few days old, using their names and wondering if I'd done well for them.................such a big decision!

havent posted on this board before, browsing now cause im due 05/15/05!

the CP dolls names brought my memory to life.....hehehe.......

i was soooooo mortified by my CP doll's name that I cried and cried and cried, so my mom sent a form and got them to send me a new "birth" certificate with the name that i chose....and heck the name i chose was "Trudy Jean" *lol*.......but the first was something like Gertrude or something awful. believe it or not i still have the doll and the "birth" certificate....i'll look for it tonight and tell you what that awful name was........if it was sooooo bad it looks like id remember it, huh?

Mine was Fawn Adoree. I think it sounds like a stripper now, but it was beautiful when I was ten.

I was at the store today and saw them. When I saw one named Liza Julia I had to try to figure out how to get it to the car without one of the kids seeing it.I finally called my sister to come to the store and get it for me.Liza will love it for Christmas. Now I have to find a Daisy.Did I make a huge mistake ?? What if I can't find a Daisy ? Maybe I will just tell them to call them whatever they want.

Jenni,

I think it is possible to request a name, and have the company send you a new "birth certificate" with the name you want for it.... That said, I thought I'd pass along this link, since you are looking for a "Daisy" I thought this doll with this outfit was really cute.....

Mine (circa 1989) was Darlene Olive. I never considered naming a child Darlene Olive!

I still have her in my office.

We were too poor for Cabbage Patch Kids back in the day. But my Mom got us a knock off called Doll-babies. Mine was Marsha Jane. My twin's doll was Bobby Jean and my little sister's doll was hmmm. I don't remember.

A girlfriend of mine had a Cabbage Patch kid whose name was unforgettable...

Dorkus Abigail

Ha! I can't believe they ever put Dorkus in the hat!
