Names of the future

The way naming trends come and go fascinates me. If the current trends continue this is how I see the future:

Girls will all have last names, traditional boy’s names, and fun spellings:

Billy

Pfeiffer

CkiMburl8

Kevin

Jones

2loolou

Boys will only have inanimate objects left as names:

Couch

Tailpipe

Bridge

Bark

What is your vision of the future?

I envision names like

Bologna, Zucchini, Rhubarb, Molasses.

Molasses Anne, Zucchini Rose (you know, to keep it feminine) hahahahahaha

With the latest Coco and Apple.....I just see a trend towards food.

Babies will have names that sound even more like little old ladies and men:

Ethel

Mildred

Bertha

Agnes

Earl

Hezekiah

Abner

Elmer

etc.

This is not to say that I don't like the current trend of using names from the past. :)

Also, in addition to Couch, Bridge, Tailpipe, and Bark, we will have Couchen, Bridgen, Tailpipen, and Barken.

:)

That one cracks me up!! Tailpipen especially!!

I have seen many Kennedys, Carters, and Reagans lately...so I fully expect to see other presidents soon...

Bush (maybe Bushie for a girl - or just mess up the spelling some...like Boosh, Boosch, Hbusch)

Eisenhower

Nixon??? maybe Nixon Anne for a girl?

Colors are back in...i.e. Violet, Ruby, etc. How about:

Cerulean

Black

Brown - Brownie Kate? That goes with the food theme, too.

I think that old boys names, ones we rarely hear, will become girls' names. Ones I'm specifically think of are:

Clarence (nn Clare)

Irving (nn Ivy)

Melvin (nn Meli)

Herbert (nn Berti)

Norbert (nn Nora)

Edgar (nn Edie)

Arnold (nn Nola)

Also, there will be no more boys' names left. They will all be used for girls. Boys will be called by numbers.

YUP! I agree w/you! Girls names are TOTALLY getting more masculine! And a lot of names aren't actually "real names", but rather "words". I agree!

When I was preggo w/my 4th child, my dh and I got into H U G E fights all the time over the girls name........he wanted to name her Corvette and call her Cora for short! Heck no! Forget that!

LOL! I can see the colors, too!

Don't forget:

Chartruess

Fuschia

Cornflower! LMBO!

Periwinkle (C'mon! If they have Peri as a nickname, isn't that masculine enough?)

I think that we are going to get so entrenched in technology and an eventual 55 hour standard work week that people will start to yearn for time off, clean air, blue skies and forests. People will also have little space due to our population growth. All of this will show up in baby names...

We'll welcome children into the world and name them...

Girls:

Cloudy Water

Sunny Meadow

Winter Leaf

Spacious Flowers

Boys:

Pine Falls

Maple River

Time Away

Soil Dew

Rock Fields
