I've posted before on some of these names, but I wondered if anyone could brainstorm any other names that fit well with these.

DH and I had a long weekend discussing baby names (however, we're not even expecting!) and here's a few we came up with. The starred (*) ones are favorites, and ones that I'd like to know more similar names to go with.

BOYS:

***Hudson Cole (LOVE LOVE LOVE Mainly- I'd like boy suggestions for this "style" of name)

Porter (DH likes, but I am afraid if he's any bit overweight it'd be Porker for sure)

Channer (Something I kind of made up from Chandler)

*Carter (another fav of mine- Hudson and Carter- but dh vetos)

Griffin (I love, but DH hates)

GIRLS:

Riley (not so much or favorite right now)

*Ellery (I love, DH doesn't. Says its like "Celery")

*Brynn (Does Brynn Baudak sound HORRIBLE?)

Brooke (DH's suggestion. Not my fav, but its cute, again "Brooke Baudak"?)

*Morgan Ellery

I guess my style is more "Surname-ish", So, anyone have other suggestions? I like names that are a little different, not so "popular" (even though Riley is hot hot hot in our area)

DH doesn't have a "naming style" Ok- his idea of thinking up names is to run through the NFL roster--- HEE HEE> He had teh galls to mention "Chone" as prn. SHAWN! WHAT!!! LOL. The guy needs some help...

Ok Thanks! If I think of anymore, I might post them as a reply to this message.

Ooh, fun, fun! You and I have the same naming style! And with Porter(porker) and Ellery(celery), trust me, I've heard it all before from my dh. You can come up with bad nicknames from ANY name. I guess you just don't want to leave the door WIDE open for teasing. But still, if they're gonna make fun of a child...they'll find a way!

Hudson Cole is a great name!! I also love Porter. Carter and Griffin are quite popular in my area(South), but I do like them both.

Channer is neat. It brought to mind for me two names that are close, but not made up- *Channing* & *Chancellor*. Love both of these.

Okay, here goes- other surnames for a boy- Garrett, Spencer, Logan, Ragan, Martin, Dalton, Dawson, Cameron, Camden, Corbin, Keegan, Colton, Dagan, Hagan, Hollis, Chandler

Harrison, Hamilton, Thompson, Shelton, Pierce/Pierson, Miller, Mills, Nash, Royston, Ramsey, Rourke, Brady, Brody, Brinson, Jantzen, Landon, Evan, Jackson, Johnson, Weston, Mitchell, Everett(Rett), Stefan, Maxwell, Stuart, Addison, Erickson, Nelson, Nolan, Presley, Brenton, Bretton, Bryson, Mason, Hays, Ryland, Reed, Remington, Halston, Stetson, Warren, Hayden, Ingram, Owen, Tyson, Tucker, Barrett, Barren, Garrick, Sumner, Cadby, Garvin

Names I LOVE for a boy (many are very surname-ish)- Leverett(Lev), Maddux, Kingsley, Garrison, Hartley, Hunt, Burke, Bridger, Brigham, Brogan, Talbot, Turner, Shaw, Asher, Alden, Anders, Holden, Granger, Lander, Ames, Lachlan(Lock/Locke), Rainer, Easton, Graham, Lincoln(Linc), Brandt, Calder(call-der), Breck, Berkeley, Leland, Preston, Cagney, Chet, Ewan, Rafferty

GIRLS- I LOVE Ellery-couldn't get dh to go for it either! Riley is just too overdone where I am, and Morgan has seen its peak. Morgan is very pretty. I've always loved the double name Brook Morgan. That breaks up the Brook Boudak a little. Just a thought. Morgan Ellery is gorgeous, but if I were going to use Ellery, I'd have to insist on it as a fn!

Surnames for girls you may like- Darrien, Devan, Spencer, Kennedy, Carrington, Kerrigan, Anslyn, Teagan, Tierney, Sloane, Ferryn, Bellamy, Addison, Finlay, Ellison, Emerson, Collin, Hadley, Garryn, Taryn, Camryn, Brinley, Brinsley, Brantley, Gracen, Larsyn/Larsen, McKinley, Hollis, Avery

MY LOVES- Greer, Gaynor, Sorrel, Windsor, Wetherly, Adair, Waverly, Ellis/Ellys, Emery/Emory, Breckin, Channing, Landry, McKay, Kendall, Sutton

Keep us posted! You have great taste. Good luck, Ginger mom to Grantson Metz & Wellsley Michae

i really love Riley for a girl but another name i would opt for is Ripley, ripley's believe it or not won't mind im sure. a boys name that i LOVE LOVE LOVE is Hunter but can't use it because that's our LAST name! my brother's name Tyrell seems to be unpopular. i adore the boys name Sterling, i know a Sterling, it's a cool one. if i think of any more unusual names, i will post.

I like Hudson, it's a neat simple name that's not too common.

Just wanted to tell you there are two Hudsons in my 3-year-old's preschool class!

Seems like a lot of moms at my other son's karate class have your naming style, so I'll throw out some names of kids I know there - maybe something will hit you!

Fischer, Parker, Connor, Trevor, Ridley, Bailey (boy), Carter, Reagan (boy), Sawyer, Cooper

Some girls I know with this style:

Peyton (I know several of these)

Bryn is pretty - I teach one and she is adorable!

Campbell

Emerson

Or how about:

Boys:

Harlan

Corbin

Hagan

Quentin

Ross

Girls:

Harper

Meredith ( I like this because it has the sound you like and yet is used as a girl's name often so she won't be mistaken for a boy!)

Marley

Channing

Good luck!

OOOH Thanks for all the suggestions girls! If anyone thinks of more-- please post!

For a long time I loved many many girl names and struggled so much with boy names. Now, I have a ton of boy names I like. I just have a gut feeling that our first child will be a boy. Our "name" for awhile was Madden, but I'm afraid with all the Madisons--- well, you know. So now I have my heart set on Hudson Cole. Now, if we went with that name, would you suggest staying away from other names that end with "on" or "son"? Such as Dawson, Kanson, Sheldon, Pierson? Ok, now all we need is May to come around and hopefully get pregnant!

So far, my fav's that have been suggested are:

(I also have a few questions about Pronunciations)

And what do you think of Kaanson for a boy? Or Kanson?)

BOYS:

Hudson Cole (Still #1!)

Madden

Maddux (how would it be prn? Ma (as in Mat) Ma-ducks?)

Carter

Channing

Gaige

Porter

Garrett

Garrick

Garrison

Graham

Spencer

Sterling

Sheldon

Shaw

Logan

Ragon

Reegan

Dawson

Pierce/Pierson

Everett

Easton

Hays

Hayden

Hunt

Lachlan

Calder

Channer

GIRLS:

Morgan

Ellery

Brooke

Brynn

Riley

Laiken

Kendall (I forgot to add that to my first post! LOVE Kendall!)

Hadlye

Teagan

Gracen (Do you think this sounds ok for a girl? I know some name boys Grayson)

Larsen

Sutton (Prn- not 'hard T's?" like Button- I don't say "but-ton")

Campbell (Prn Cam-bull?)

THANKS!

Overall, great lists, IMO.

Here are my comments-(Keep in mind that where I live (deep South) surnames are EXTREMELY popular and very accepted for girls and boys so none of these seem strange to me)

***Now, if we went with that name, would you suggest staying away from other names that end with "on" or "son"? Such as Dawson, Kanson, Sheldon, Pierson? YES, too matchy!

*Kanson? Not Crazy about this one, sorry. Crandall, Lansing?

I like a lot of these! Hudson Cole is a great name.

Morgan Ellery is beautiful, and I like alliteration, so Brooke and Brynn are great to me! I also love the name Ellery Brynn a lot. It looks and sounds so nice:)
