Meredith- adore one friend by this name, but lets just say because of another girl, I can't name my daughter after someone who sleeps with her professors! :)

Not really f*d up, but...

- Samantha and Gwendolyn: Daughters of a guy I used to be involved with.
- Carys: My ex-boyfriend's ex-girlfriend. Incidentally, he cheated on me with her, so even though she hadn't known we were still together at the time (she's a decent girl, really. He was just a jerk.), the name is ruined for my personal use. Still love it, though.
- Connor: My brother's fiancée's little brother.
- Gabriel: A friend of mine already named her son this.
- Claudia: I always thought this was pretty, but it's ruined for me after meeting a horrible brat of a child with this name.
- Susan: An annoying former co-worker.
- Jasmine: Yasmin is my birth control, LOL.

Not exactly anyone I "know," but the first that come to mind are Reilly and Cameron (for boys, of course ). Even if popularity/trendiness weren't a concern, I immediately think of my sister and SIL whenever I hear these, as they've made it know they plan to name my future nieces Rylee and Kamryn (yes, those spellings). Sigh.

Others that have actual people attached to them:

  • Shea - love this, but already have a female cousin named Shaye (and while that wouldn't necessarily stop me from using it, the stink my aunt made about hearing it on a boy -- and "misspelled" Shea at that -- just kind of makes me not want to go there ... *rolls eyes* LOL)

  • Meredith and Maeve- also cousins, and since their sister's name is Devin (and we already have Devanie), I think adding either to our own crew would be overkill. ;)

  • Neasa/Nessa (even as a nn) - a high school bf cheated on me with a girl named Vanessa, nn Nessa, and even though I'd never even want to consider Vanessa, it does sort of tarnish Neasa or Agnes, nn Nessa, for me. Not serious contenders anyhow -- just names I like -- but to use a real-life example, Kate has a CPK named Vanessa Colleen whom she thinks is simply Nessa Colleen (I figured that was more appropriate in any case LOL).

  • Miller - yes, sadly this is a new loss (or less of a consideration, anyway). :( It's my grandfather's mn, and while I've always known he wasn't fond of it, I thought it was simply because he thought it too different/surnamey, etc. Not so. Apparently, he's actually a Jr. -- not something I was aware of, because he doesn't use the Jr. and I never knew anything about my biological g-grandfather because my g-grandmother re-married and her dh adopted him. Apparently, he was quite the scoundrel, marrying at least six different women and leaving each family after a short time. Not the nicest guy in the world. So I suppose having the exact same name as him sort of grates on my grandfather, and while he simply IS George (no escaping your fn, really), that's basically why he hates the mn Miller so much. I really don't think I could use it now, knowing that it reminds him of his dead-beat dad, KWIM? :( Mourning Miller's loss. LOL

That's about it for now. Nothing tops Miller, so I'll leave it at that, though I know there are others. ;)

Julie/Julia is off my list, no matter how much I love it. My brother named one of his girls Juliauna and calls her Julie. The way they spelled it makes me nuts, but I've never told them that :P, and she is, obviously, a sweetie :D, but that name is not an option for me anymore.
