Naming a girl after yourself...

Yay or Nay? It is common practice for boys to be named after their fathers. Anyone have the urge to name their daughter after themselves? Know of someone else who has? I'm not talking about a Jr., but maybe the same first name with a different nickname.

Comments? (DH won't even allow me to name our child after living immediate family so this is not an option, but I quite like the idea - narcissistic me :)

I am not one in favor of naming children after anyone as it may cause hard feelings as you sometimes cannot honor all the grandparents in your childs life. We're not expecting yet but we have discussed baby names...it could all change when it happens though

My husband and I have decided that if we should have a boy, we would give him my DH fn as his mn so it would be Evan Robert. If it is a girl, we love Rebecca and cannot agree on a middle name. My husband suggested my name Dana as a middle name. i never even considered giving a baby my name. Rebecca Dana actually doesn't sound too bad. We shall see.....

I am Dawn Elizabeth and I named my DD Elizabeth Dawn. A few people have made the comment that it was a little egotistical of me, but boys are named after their fathers all the time. Also My mother's name is Betsy (Elizabeth Ann) and My MIL's name is Betty Jo (Elizabeth Joan) so everyone was pretty happy with the choice of Elizabeth.

I'm not really a fan of juniors either to tell you the truth. It gets too cunfusing. I confuse easily though...lol honestly I just don't there should be 2 people with the same name living under the same roof, or same city. JMHO

My Momma, my oldest DD and I share our middle names. We are Carolyn Louise, Amy Louise and Patrisha Louise. I've always liked the connection it gives me to my Momma. My DD is 12 y/o and loves it also.

All my girls are named for family members. Patrisha is for my aunt, Patricia. (Patti) Isabella is for my g'mother, Evelyn Isabelle. Ruth is MIL's mn. Lilybet is for my g'g'g'ma Lily and DH's favorite aunt, Betty.

Help or hinder?

Good luck finding that perfect name!

Amy~mom to Patrisha Louise, Isabella Ruth & Lilybet Rhian; ages 12, 9 & 17 mos
